Ok, the only real thing here is that I managed to get my wife to actually be OK with a car that's not really traditional. We had a 2015 Ford Edge Titanium that we bought in 2019 for my wife to drive. I was off to the desert and wanted her to have something safe to drive for the next 6 months that I wouldn't have to worry about breaking down.
It's been a good car, but it's extremely wide... and while it has plenty of power, things are just starting to go on it. I've replaced all the automatic hatch components twice... which is a pain in the ass, and had to change out all the TPMS sensors. The car was JUST good enough that CarMax said they'll probably actually sell it on their lot since it's right at the cut-off. I got $9,400 in trade in for the car (shocking), as I paid $28k for the car when I bought it in 2019.
Anyway, the car was now 10 years old, and I wanted something my wife could enjoy, but that would also be youthful. More specifically, I wanted something that, if my daughter does well in college, I can give her a car in her second or third year that will be basically newish that she can have to start her new career / life with. Something that's safe, but also youthful and fun. Not like a stodgy 4-door Accord or something.
So... we got this for my wife, who will be driving it for the next ~3 years. It's a 2024 Ford Bronco Black Diamond Edition. It was kind of an impulse buy, as I only spent a little more than two days thinking about it. I went to the Ford dealership, and no one would give me the time of day, so I went to CarMax, and I see it there, a 2-door, and my wife even liked the color. It had 7,100 miles on it, and I thought to myself... damn, this is basically a brand new car. So we pulled the trigger...

... we like it a lot!

... and my daughter giving a hug to the Ford Edge before we part ways...

First off, your daughter really has great facial expressions....and, second...Does your wife actually KNOW how to ride a Bronco?

I'll just say I only spent $400 for a 2002 Buick Lesabre a few years back, typical brakes & suspension, tires and such. Has been a good runner and still going at 195K, had only 110k when I bought it. Oddly this was the same amount I paid for my 1st car that wasn't no where near as nice a ride as this one.
BTW, buyer beware, the carmax in my area didn't give 2 sh**t what grade gas they put into the cars, whatever was cheapest is what they got.
Good luck with the purchase.

I'm RGCB--red/green colorblind. Is the Bronco a shiny olive drab? The ecoboosts are good engines but do still suffer valve train problems...cam phasers are better now but not all versions have been ironed out.

Thanks guys!
Yeah MJ, it's a green... but more of a "Forest Green," like you'd see on the older 80s Lotus Esprit cars back in the day. It's got metal flake in it, so it actually has a gold shimmer to it when it hits the light. Not sure if this will become the old drab green that the older 90s Eddie Bauer Ford Explorers all look like today, haha... but she loves it.
