Someone hit my trash cans!!! (Page 1/1)

Haha, I kind of feel bad, but also not really... because it could have been my car.

My neighborhood is kind of like an old 1950s Chicago style neighborhood, where the homes all have front porches, and they sit 8 feet from the sidewalk, with maybe 4 feet of swale. Everyone has a garage in the back, either with a long driveway going down the side of the house (with a detached garage in the back), or they have an alleyway. Many people park their cars on the street, just because they can... and the roads are designed too allow for it.

In any case, I was sitting at my desk, and heard this crash and a tire screech. It didn't sound good... looked out my window to make sure my neighbor was ok, didn't see anything, and went back too working. Later in the day, I go out the front and my two trashcans, the recycling can and the dumpster can were both pushed almost past my yard into my neighbors property. The trashcans were upright (someone had fixed it), but there was all kinds of broken headlight and turn-signal lens from something big (likely a big pickup truck). None of the lens had DOT markings on it, so I didn't get the part where I could identify it. The trash can has some big cuts in it, but I'm not really concerned.

I feel bad, but at the same time, it's kind of funny. How do you manage to hit a stationary trashcan that's right up against the curb? Some dude basically jacked up the front of their car because they were probably on their phone. Better my trashcan than someone's car, or a kid...

Dude- Texting is more Im-potent than driving (if you crash while texting, the accident doesn't count!!)

And.....Your cans are now......"Trashed"....

I was in the middle lane at a light the other day. Saw a woman inching slowly up in the left lane (left turn only) texting away, not realizing she was moving forward. went through the crosswalk and then stopped. The left turn signal turned green, then yellow then red. She just sat there, looking down TOTALLY oblivious to the fact that she missed the light. Then when my light turned green, I went forward and so did she, until she realized her turn signal was red, and she was now sitting halfway in the middle of the intersection, stuck there because the oncoming traffic had the green as well. I could hear her brain go "huh"?

I hate texting and driving. And texting while walking up/down the subway stairs. GETOFFMYLAWN ARGHHHHHHH

lol

A) they should make cell phones interlock with cars so that while your car is moving you can only contact 911....

B) cell phones/computers are absolutely taking over the world.....
