Question... (Page 1/1)

BLUF: Do fries go bad if left in the car?

We went out to dinner the other night to PDQ... just a normal chicken restaurant. But they have really good fries and I bought a huge basket of waffle fries. Unfortunately, I left them in the car that night, and then throughout the ENTIRE night the next day, and THEN discovered them when I picked my daughter up the next afternoon. So they effectively sat in the car for like almost 2 days.

Here's the question, can I still eat them? They still look really delicious, and I really want to eat them. I've eaten cold fries before when I was in college that were just sitting around my apartment, and I've also eaten pound cake that I dropped in the dirt outside the DFAC. So I'm not averse to anything. The fries were sealed, no bugs...

Can I eat them?

If you throw them in an air fryer for about 6 minutes or an oven for 10 you should be fine. This time of year, where I live in California, it gets to be 30 degrees overnight so anything in the vehicle gets frozen. I wake up to a bottle of ice water if it's left in the car.

Even though it sounds disgusting for most people

I agree. A microwave oven will work to but the fries will not be as crispy.

Todd, if we never see you post again we will know not to do that. Take one for the team.

Hahaha... ok, I'm going to do it. These are waffle fries... I just hope everyone understands how awesome they are. Some of them even still have the sides of the potato on them so it's like a potato chip attached to a waffle fry, which is amazing.

I'll let you know...

There is no question about whether or not you can eat them.

The real question is, how will things come out in the end.........................

I agree that if heated to sufficient temperature any microbes will be killed. Good luck.

So, I had them with lunch today...

I feel less than great, that is all... but I think I'll survive. Probably would not do this again...

The end to this story is still to come. In this case, pictures are not required, we'll take your word.
