Charlie Watts, Rolling Stones Drummer, Dies at 80
quote | Drummer Charlie Watts, whose adept, powerful skin work propelled the Rolling Stones for more than half a century, died in London on Tuesday morning, according to his spokesperson. No cause of death was cited; he was 80.

I suppose Kieth Richards and Mick Jagger will outlive me.
I was just reading yesterday, about how Charlie played claves on one of the last songs to feature Brian Jones.

Between Ozzy Osbourne, Keith Richards, and a host of other older musicians, I am convinced that DARE was wrong and drugs are actually good for you and prolong your life.

Willie Nelson can't be long for this Earth as well. He is 88 but looks 108.

I have always said that some people have great genetics. And it makes me wonder if these "high risk" life style people would live into the 100s if they lived differently? I guess I will never know.

"High Tides and Green Grass" was the first album that I bought when I was a kid (a new release at the time) and I still have it, along with nearly twenty other Stones recordings.
Sad to see him go.

Gibbons didn't have genetics on his side, I guess.
Charlie just played a straight solid beat. No flare, no flash in his delivery. One video I watched of him playing he didn't even hit the hi-hat when he hit the snare. IOWs, he paused the hi-hat on every snare hit even though the beat was straight through, similar to LA Woman's beat.
I never owned a Rolling Stones album or single though there are several memorable songs he played on. Sympathy For The Devil. Satisfaction.
