That's "variants" (plural) at the end of that.

The "Delta variant" has been garnering media attention "big time" and now, they're talking about the "Delta Plus" variant. Scary, huh?

Scary.

But here's a glimmer of good news--or what seems like good news.

"An ACE2 Triple Decoy that neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 shows enhanced affinity for virus variants"

If it's not the most perfectly indecipherable scientific report that I've even encountered, from a layman's perspective, it's right up there with all the other ones. "Tied for first place."

But what I glean here, vaguely, through the fog of science, is that they are researching a way to create more effective medicines to treat Covid, even as it evolves into variants that are progressively more differentiated in their viral structure from the original or "wild" strain. Not just more effective vaccines--although I think that could be in play here--but more effective medicines to treat the people that are certain to come down with the variant-driven Covid diseases in the years to come.

ACE2 Triple Decoy . . . makes me wonder why I didn't think of that.
