No way in HELL any city or society is going to survive with 11% working. 9% with no income whatsoever.

Not the best times ahead. Less than 30% of the workforce is expected to return to New York City. That's not enough for the restaurant, corner bodega, and tall office buildings to do well. Also trains and busses and such.6 feet social distancing isn't really safe enough, and now they reduced it to 3 feet. I hope to god the vaccines can deal with the latest variants.
Have no idea how it is in other places, but we have lost more than half our local businesses so far.

They said only 3 feet was needed then without a scientific reason declared 6 feet as an edict. It has a 99.97% survival rate.
Take high doses of vitamin D. Take some vitamin C. If you're obese, start losing weight. If you don't exercise, start.
London is like most cities. Cities are full of waste. And shutting down the world wasn't warranted. This is designed chaos.[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 03-25-2021).]

It’s not the flu. It does a lot of subtle damage. Lots of shortened lifespans. Asymptomatic doesn’t mean there’s not internal damage
It changes people. I know more folks who are still wrecked months later. Most weren’t obese or had any secondary issues.
But this was handled SO half-assed...
If they closed full for a month, it would be a non-issue. (Maybe?)
Believe what you will. If you have it, and wear an N95 mask, you are waaaay less likely to spread it. Wearing one doesn’t protect you that much from it, though.
Know too many people who have died

So what? Who said it is? Lots of years they call viruses 'flu', though. It's cold and flu season every year.

So did the lockdowns. People are dying from that. People aren't getting needed medical attention for other things. People are committing suicide.
It isnt just covid deaths that matter. One dead preteen or 25 year old suicide is a much greater loss in life years than several 75 year olds with almost no life years left.

60% of the work force at one of my last employers has had it. No deaths. They were all working from home.

Yes, we should have not shut down and only now are we getting heard immunity after opening up. We had Dems forcing an old man to be killed by a nursing home worker by beating instead of letting him stay home and live. Dem Cuomo killed a bunch residents in nursing homes through forced exposure, etc..

No. It was going to happen and almost everyone will get exposed eventually.

I have some but won't waste it on this event. I wear the stupid cloth do nothing masks everyone does.

I know exactly 1 person who died. She was obese with untreated diabetes, untreated weight related heart issue and wouldn't seek medical attention until she couldn't walk across the room due to pneumonia. When offered to transfer to the regional covid specialized hospital, she refused. She refused to be intubated/ventilated and requested do not resuscitate. She almost pulled through.
Covid was listed as cause of death, which is disingenuous.

And of that 60%, how many will have issues later on due to Covid? THAT's my concern. I meant "its' not the flu" because I know lots of folks who think this is "just a cough" like "tis but a scratch" and then they get it and its a hellish nightmare. Or, its just a cough. It's mind-knumbing, man...
I'm concerned that they don't know the long-term effects of this thing -
Mental illness/issues and damage to internal organs such as Kidney, circulatory system (and heart).
Not lookin' to spend time arguing, hope the 1 person you know who died is the only one. I'd probably be whistling a different tune if I wasn't here in NYC at the moment...
I want my kids back in school, but JESUS, VACCINATE the freaking teachers, at least!
Bah!

Coughs can just be coughs or any other cold virus, flu, allergy.
I'm developing allergies I never had before. Some foods now are causing nose, throat, eye symptoms. They haven't isolated covid19 yet, have they?

Medical establishment is in favor of all that, as are investors because it's good investment strategy. Capitalism trumps all for them as shown in the opioid scams.
Maybe we don't know the lasting effects, but it's unavoidable. Almost everybody is going to be exposed to it. The demographic it kills is almost just the very old or physically infirm.

Yeah, I agree. That government is being exposed as careless, reckless and criminally negligent.

The vaccines are killing hundreds or probably thousands by now. They're causing lasting effects and complications and we don't know what they will be yet, because this is all experimental.
Kids aren't much at risk themselves. They can be vehicles, but vaccinating teachers seems of poor impact. If parents want it, go ahead and take your chances on getting jabbed. Or put the teacher in a tent instead the kids that aren't at risk or are asymptomatic.
Protect and isolate the at-risk few. Force everyone else to wash their hands in view of everyone else. Dope everyone with vit D and C. Stop illegal immigration.
Did the world shut down when Polio was isolated? We're allowing illegal Africans in from areas with Ebola.[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 03-25-2021).]

I dont know about NYC or other areas, but here we have moved heavily into a barter/trade economy for a lot of stuff. April 24th we are having a "free curbside" shopping day. Like a yardsale, put your junk out and take what you need, give what you can. Clothing, furniture, electronics and small appliances mostly it seems.
Last week I traded a skidoo suit and down parka for a 42" LG tv. Was wall-mounted and needs new legs, but I can design and print those. Nice addition to the bedroom and one hell of a lot better than the 20" I had in there. Now the 20" is up for trade.

It's no coincidence that the people lost over 3 trillion in wealth while the top elite increased wealth by 3.9 trillion. Just search "3.9 trillion in wealth".
This economy is nearing self extermination and that's when the elite make real money.
Actuaries have it modeled out at all times just as military campaigns are predicted and modeled. The immigration crisis is being created simultaneously with economic pressures to force another lever against the people.

On that chart above, OW is welfare. 100 bucks a week. ODSP is government disability, 250 a week, EI, CTB, Immigration, OSAP and CERB are all government programs, and all well below poverty line.
Of that 11% working, the average advertised wage is 15-17/hr and minimum wage here is 14. A "living wage" depending on the city/area ranges from 20-35.
NOT a pretty picture at all.
