No and most have no idea how long is been true...

Pictures have been altered or edited to lie for Many Decades. Anyone telling you "pictures can't lie" are complete fools or someone to be dangerous.
And was true like many old "Ghost" photos hundred years before "Photoshop era" but millions times worse since.

Even w/o editing, Just how you take a picture or video can make the picture/"tape" lie to the public, to courts and more.

Most don't remember or too young to see Exxon tiger morph ads. It is or one of the First examples of Morphing.

I believe 1 Exxon ad came out before BOW. All took many hours to days and now minutes to seconds to many "desktop" computers.

About the only thing different is now can "Deepfake" to video in real time or close to it depending on computer power available. Or did you think only "Coin Mining" is causing current shortage of RTX and other Vid cards?

Note: If you want a "preview" of any computer FX... watch "TV" ads. The ads often are first time anything is tried because of 15-60 second length for the whole ad.

Good points about photos and morphing.

Photos were staged with the invention of photos. The War for States Rights saw photographers moving and posing dead bodies for dramatic impact.

WWII photos in concentration camps were chopped, painted, had people added in.

Shortly after the W Bush admin there were video programs showing you could manipulate his face and facial expressions while video was rolling of his speeches.

Even before I was a U.S. military officer I've been an avid amateur military historian so your claim interests me.

Outside of anti-Semitic, holocaust denier and neo-Nazi circles I've never heard that claim made.

What kind of sideways conditional charge would you call that, Randye? Isn't that remarkably similar to the very thing you claim liberals do?

Did you perform a cursory search of the internet? Search some, they're not fake. But they edited in people who weren't there for drama. Real photos edited. Some sites have false captions. Dresden Germans for instance. Bengals starving.

I'm not a scholar at it because it doesn't pay well. But there is no shortage of sources and evidence out there, legal findings included.

Just remembered that Anne Frank's relative revealed the Soviet Auschwitz liberation photos are staged a few days after the actual liberation because the Soviets didn't have cameras the original day.
