It's Trump's Fault (Page 1/2)

Rant. Do you have a 401K? Do you monitor its performance? How is it doing? Last year I had to cash in my personal 401K because my management company and advisor was doing such a poor job that I was constantly losing money. Took a hit on taxes, but it was better than losing the whole amount. I inherited another 401K from my wife, as her beneficiary.

I check the performance almost daily. In the past 4 years, it has done very well though there have been occasional daily losses, and even weekly losses. For the calendar year of 2020, I saw growth as high as 24% and I ended the year on December 31, 2020 with an average growth of 12.70%.

I began to see a rapid decline as various Executive Orders were signed, especially the revocation of the Keystone Pipeline permits. As of Thursday night, January 28, 2021 the return for the month of January had dropped to 0.80%. This morning, I checked the return after the closing of the stock market on January 29, and I'm now at a -0.24% return. Just 1 day from 0.80% gain to a loss of -0.24%.

I blame all this on Donald J. Trump. He lost the election.

There's a way to take direction of a 401K, isn't there? Anyone know the workings?

Doug Casey is saying to move holdings to commodities and the foreign markets but you better hear it from him, because I don't have faith I'm conveying it correctly.
He's on YouTube and on TheInternationalMan.

As of last night's exchange closing, my International Index was returning 0.18% while my Small Cap Index was returning 5.04%. Domestic is doing better than foreign.

A rising tide raises all boats. Biden, being a stooge for the internationalists believes that in order to boost the international economy, America must suffer.

I'm surprised that Pfizer was only 1.19% growth for January. Johnson and Johnson and Disney were even less but not in the negative.

It's too short sighted, imo. This volatility will keep buffaloed. Your other 401k you could've reinvested and then recovered your taxes.

buy on the rumor, sell on the news. (buy when the rumor of big news first surfaces, then sell when the news is actually announced)
The sell depresses stock price.

Phizer jumped when news first surfacedthat it's vaccine was going to be successful, then just a bit when it got approved but now with Moderna, JJ, AstraZenca, and others in the rumor pipeline, Phizer is no longer 'TNBT' so it has mostly settled back down. Phizer is a good company, but it's a buy&hold equity imo, with growth being slow & steady in the long term. Keep in mind that Phizer is only 1/2 the partnership that is making the vaccine. BioNtech (a German co) is the other 1/2 and it is that company that is making the majority of the product and it is doing much better short term. Stock prices tend to rise on "The Potential" for growth, & not so much on what they are doing "now". Phizer's dividend has been very steady over time.
(it's actually a 3-way deal, asPhizer/BioNTech partnered up with Novartis to use their Swiss manufacturing facility to produce a large % of the "Phizer" vaccine. )
In a 401 or MuFu, it's the actual GROWTH that makes you money (depending how well the portfolio is managed)

In short, the vaccine/pharma sector is a bit diluted due to so many different and very active players

Pfizer has been one of the stable ones since the account passed on to me. Samsung is another that's held its own.

GameStop has been all over the news, but I'm afraid they will enact some new regulatory actions to quench it. They don't like outsider trading.

Sourmash, when I closed my personal 401K, I couldn't roll it into the one I inherited from my late wife. I was not an employee of her company and can't invest. I can only ride out the market or trade. I just can't invest more, even if I had it to invest.
