Woke San Francisco School Board to rename 44 schools (Page 1/2)

Any and all schools named for any President or framers of the USA, such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Francis Scott Key to Paul Revere will have their names officially removed from the schools of the San Francisco School District.

The reason is because they are people who have "Dishonorable Legacies". They even will remove Dianne Feinstein name from a school (she has an elementary school named after her) the first woman mayor of San Fran and current senator. The reason? Because back in 1984, she ordered a new Confederate flag to replaced one that was damaged by vandals when she was mayor.

The school board hasn't chosen the new names that will replace the "dishonorables" , they have till April to do that, at a cost of around $400K per school. But George Floyd and Briana Taylor are names that are mentioned as possible replacements for Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

So DiFi is getting canceled too, LOL. It's telling that the school board is focusing on this right now instead of something of importance, like getting the schools open again. BTW, the cost will be well into the 10s of millions when they add in refinishing all the gym floors, buying new uniforms, etc. But I guess that passes for chump change up in the Bay area.

San Francisco's mayor London Breed said this about it, earlier today:

What I cannot understand is why the School Board is advancing a plan to have all these schools renamed by April, when there isn’t a plan to have our kids back in the classroom by then."

Logic doesn't mean correct or right.

For example: Punching someone in the face until they no longer think the way they did before is effectively changing their mind in a statistically positive way.

If they replace the names of these schools after other people because of their retrospective bigotry and wokeness, then that is just authoritarian fascist.

But if they replace the names, and just call it Elementary School 1, North High School or something like that, I would say that would be reasonable.

I'm not actually a big fan of naming public buildings after dead or living people.

Their reasoning is because of their bigotry, that is clear. But if their remedy is benign and non-political, then it shouldn't be so controversial.

"P.S. 36" works for me. I think they do it that way in a lot of big cities, or at least they used to.
