ABC News Amazon offers to help Biden with COVID vaccinations
Amazon sent a letter to newly inaugurated President Joe Biden on Wednesday offering to use its vast resources to assist with federal COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/m...W4o0?ocid=uxbndlbing
"Congratulations to you and Vice President Harris on your inauguration," the letter, signed by Amazon Worldwide Consumer CEO Dave Clark, stated. "As you begin your work leading the country out of the COVID-19 crisis, Amazon stands ready to assist you in reaching your goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans in the first 100 days of your administration."
The letter added that Amazon has over 800,000 employees in the U.S. -- making it the nation's second-largest employer -- and most are essential workers who cannot work from home. It urged that those essential workers, including those at Whole Foods Markets, "should receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the earliest appropriate time" and pledged to "assist them in that effort."
"We have an agreement in place with a licensed third-party occupational health care provider to administer vaccines on-site at our Amazon facilities," Clark added. "We are prepared to move quickly once vaccines are available. Additionally, we are prepared to leverage our operations, information technology, and communications capabilities and expertise to assist your administration's vaccination efforts." . Clark added that their scale "allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately in the fight against COVID-19."
The e-commerce giant's offer to help the government notably comes the day Donald Trump departs office.
In October of last year, Amazon revealed in a blogpost that 19,816 front-line employees (out of 1,372,000) had tested positive or been presumed positive for COVID-19 between March 1, 2020 and Sept. 19, 2020. The company said it has said it has invested million in its pandemic response to protect its employees, but the response has still courted controversy from some workers.
Whoa! Let me try to wrap my head around this. 400,000 people have now perished due to COVID-19 and Amazon waits to volunteer it's assistance until a new President is in office. Wow, that's says a lot about this company, Jeff Bezos and their concern with public health.
Edited: Most of the world is aware that President Trump and Jeff Bezos were not the best of friends. But, even if they were enemies (which it appears may have been the case) why would Bezos's company withheld this "assistance" and let more people suffer and die? If Amazon can make this happen now, why couldn't it have happen prior to the election or, even the day after the election? Gives me a whole new perspective of Jeff Bezos.

I would want to know more about this offer and its timing before going negative about it on Amazon or on Jeff Bezos.
That was a very summary report.
Problem (for me) is... there's so many other things to ponder.

Well, you have to remember that the vaccine was not available until....when was it again? Oh yeah, the day after the election.

Too little too late. Covid is over !
More and more Dumbocratic States are calling to re-open the economy. Biden, on day one, issues an Executive Order to open schools.

Whether it's too little and too late doesn't really reflect the issue of Amazon holding off the offer their "assistance" until a new President was sworn in (IOWs, until after President Trump was out of office). Whether one believes all the data the CDC has put out on this Pandemic isn't the issue either. The fact that Amazon held back it's offer of assistance is appalling to me. Had President Trump won, would this offer have been made? Amazon has kept quiet, I don't believe they anticipated any back lash.

No, it's not, just as it wasn't 'over' on the previously predicted date(s) that it would "all be over".[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 01-21-2021).]

Trump stated that Covid would be gone in a couple of months...then it will be gone in a couple more months......then it is no worse than the flu....then "Covid-covid-covid......It will be gone right after the election!" (And it is NOT gone)
So what would Trump have said if Amazon had offered to help? ABout the nicest thing he would have said would have been "Give ME some tribute before you help anyone!"
"Conservatives" keep running around spewing the BS from Faux and OANN but there are 400,000 Americans that absolutely will never listen to their lies again....

OK, IMHO, this isn't even a Trump/Biden issue. It a Jeff Bezos/Amazon issue. How many of those 400,000+ lives that are now lost could have gotten a vaccination and potentially been still here? Political motivation that let (potentially) thousands (if not more) die. Appalling in my opinion and to me it doesn't matter what party affiliation one has. Regardless of party, I would think everyone would be enraged over this but, it appears I'm wrong. Especially with the TDS folks. Whatever...........
