Is Woke like the Temperance Movement ? (Page 1/2) |

With the Woke cult taking greater mindshare and capturing government, academia and media, there appears to be a misguided agenda that will only result in backfiring, much like the temperance movement.
This new puritanism, that is Woke, which have people believing a false narrative that great injustices in society are all caused by white people and all whites are racist and born racist due to privilege and that it needs to be rid of by legislation and therefore a world of Utopia awaits on the other side. That the only way to shed this is to be first, WOKE if you are white. Meaning that you have to succumb to the narrative and believe that you are inherently racist and that you have to transfer your well being to other people to prove and make good on your reformation of your original sin.
You can escape the persecution of Woke and their reformation campaign, but declaring intersectionality (something you can categorically fit into that you can describe yourself as not-white), such as LGBTQ, transferring your well being and wealth to others, declaring your allegiance and solidarity to Woke (don't hurt me slogans and signs) or virtual signaling to others that you are more Woke than them.
Unfortunately Woke is so misguided as most people are not racist, most people do want everyone to have a fair go in society, most people are generous and help others, most people want a fairer and color-blind society. But few people understand that there will be no Utopia, that there will never be an equitable society as wellbeing and money always flow to a very few people. By hard legislation, brow beating to submission and temporal punishment (shunning people) and silencing dissent only leads to resentment and has the adverse effect of what they are trying to accomplish.

I think that's going to be one of the larger challenges ahead as the Biden-Harris administration tries to govern.
I expect it to become more apparent after there is more headway in controlling the Covid pandemic and bringing more of the economy back to life.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 01-21-2021).]

The Woke puppets are the establishment.
Woke means suddenly noticing older people devoted a career to acquiring a higher quality of life, but eff that, I want it for free and I want it from them.

Judging by all the facebook posts about how peaceful and happy the inauguration was, how things will be better now, a president who cares, they'll fix covid now because they care, the first X and the fist X and the first X vice president....
The problem is larger than I thought.
People oblivious, being lulled by an apparent "feel good" pied piper.
Anyone else witness this youtube ad, I think I saw it in October:

You left out "and I want it NOW."
I have even seen it here in OT years ago, where a relatively young Caucasian male person was complaining that he and his wife couldn't afford a home like his parents or grandparents had. Some of us explained to him that his parents/grandparents had probably (like most of us) worked, scrimped saved and paid for those homes for many decades. I think the words fell on deaf ears.

Now those folks are teaching in schools, having kids, and being elected.

They were back then too. I believe the PFF member complaining about the high cost of real estate was in his 30s.

Thank you for bringing that up, my point is the same, it is "catching". If that person was in their 30s, then perhaps their kids are now, teaching, having kids and getting elected, oh and voting. We are even more behind the 8 ball.[This message has been edited by 2.5 (edited 01-21-2021).]

Replace "white people" with "Jews", and what do you get?

Germany tried the "scapegoat an entire demographic group" thing back in the 1930s and 40s. We all know how THAT turned out.

3/4 of the people on this continent are complaining about the high cost of real estate and the housing crisis. Guidelines are housing (rent/mortgage, utilities and insurance) should be roughly 1/3rd of income. GOOD effin luck with that any more anywhere in North America.[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 01-21-2021).]
