Lottery numbers! (Page 1/1)

Which ones do you play? I won't tell.

Today I was thinking about using the few dollars left in my pocket to go for that 400 million jackpot. Came up with 4 to 5 numbers but then at the junkyard I found a fortune cookie in a car door pocket. Hey, there's numbers on those I could play. But they were different than the ones I came up with earlier so eff that.

Here are the fortune cookie numbers:
9, 10, 35, 6, 34, 15

Lottery: A game for people that are bad at math.

I dropped the cookie.
Every thought how only government is allowed to run legal lotteries?

A local guy one over 100 mil take home. Sometimes I see him out at a club. Didn't know he was the winner but the local news covered him a year after the won. Bet it makes you a little wary of people after wining, bet he didn't like being featured again.

I don't, but for those that do I have wondered if it were smarter to let the machine pick randomly than choose ones own numbers. I wonder if there is a history record of what worked "better", in that regard.

In regards to the lottery, the word 'smarter' should probably never be used. The odds of winning are microscopic.

Quick Pick vs. Lucky Numbers: Which Is Better?
Think your lucky numbers will help you win big? Actually, a greater percentage of lottery winners use a quick pick option (where a machine selects a list of random numbers) than winners who choose their own numbers. What’s more, more lottery players use the quick pick option than their own lucky numbers.

In reality, the percentage of winners using the quick pick option is about the same percentage of players who use 'their lucky numbers'. In other words, it doesn’t really matter how you pick your numbers.

Statistically, the odds are the same that any combination of numbers will be picked. So, it doesn’t matter if you choose lucky numbers or let the machine choose for you. There is no predictable method to picking the winning numbers of the lottery.

There are winning numbers, that seem to be drawn more often than others. (what those numbers are, depends on who ya talk to)
