Did my shopping today, and decided to forgo the Turkey. Got a huge ham, a whole chicken for the rotisserie, yams, potatoes, corn, carrots, mushrooms, cranberry sauce, stuffing then finish up with cookies, pie and ice cream.
We have a couple of elderly neighbors who don't really have family close by, so are taking them some plates and leftovers. LOL, I bought enough to feed an army on purpose.....and as usual, I got saddled with chef duty.[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 12-22-2020).]

I married poorly, have no kids and my birth family was broken apart when I was a kid. So Christmas is a day that the thrift stores, pawn shops and junkyard are closed.

It get better man. Remember Christmas 2015 ? I was arranging for dad to go to the boneyard, starting a nuclear war with my siblings, mom was in the hospital on her way to a care home she would never leave, I was headed for a homeless shelter and my career was in the dumps along with my health.
Takes a little help, a lot of hard work but you can get back up again. One thing I have REALLY learned the past 5 years is if somebody gives you a little help, do'nt try to "pay it back". Pay it forward instead. Even something as simple as anonymously dropping a 50 through a church door for the soup kitchen can go a long way. It come back in spades, because all of a sudden you aren't dealing with nearly as many miserable angry people in the neighborhood (well, except the internet and thats just politics)[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 12-22-2020).]

OK....just remember, there is nothing like a little tomato soup to make you feel better.....over ice. With a celery stalk. And salt. And vodka.

But what turned me on was broccoli casserole, dressing, corn souffle, pecan pie, ham, Dr Pepper.

Clamato, Sauza Hornitos, a splash of lime juice, habanero sauce and some worcestershire, a jalapeno en escabeche and a scallion to stir it.
edit: you can also experiment by adding chipotle chili powder, cumin and/or a dash of mesquite liquid smoke.[This message has been edited by williegoat (edited 12-22-2020).]

Dude, where you living ? Your profile has no location. Close enough I can even pick you up for a decent meal and a few beers.

Oh I'm way down South. Thank you. And that's what got you cooking Christmas dinner now. I'm good. There'll be someone nearby offering an option. Spirits are up and I've got hope working my way.
