You know its a small town when.... (Page 1/2)

I'm getting a futon delivered today to replace the couch, and the seller and I are giving directions back-and-forth...

Turn north at THE carwash...
Turn right at THE restaurant..
Past THE cell tower...
THE Tan 150 out front...
Where the combine was parked all summer....

No need for street names or numbers, everybody knows what you are talking about. Gotta love how simple it can get sometimes.

Smart person:
Turn right at the bank, hang a left at the library, then another left at the theater.

Fat person:
Turn right at the Burger king, hang a left at the McDonalds, then another left at Taco Bell.

Almost forgot

Dumb person:
Turn right where my mom used to live, hang a left where my dad works, then another left a half mile before the road ends.

A friend was giving me directions and used the name of a store I didn't recognize. It was a huge liquor store. Knowing who it is, the landmark made sense.

I have a forgettable appearance but had a post office box for about 7 months which I almost never have to check. Walked into the large post office where it is and the clerk asked if I'd checked my box yet because some thing important was sent. wow. How'd she remember me in a place with thousands of boxes?

You perfectly illustrate that refusing to ignore truth in America will get you called NAZI.
The programming is strong in this one.

But here's a US Marine photo mayge you can explain to me?

And another thing. Zappa had something to say about it. Scary thoughts around 2:38.

I grew up in a small town. Knew the streets like the back of my hand.
Had not been back for 15 + years and still knew where everything was.
We had a lot of that, turn left at the red house with the large tree on the corner.

Car guy directions:

"Go past the Nova..."
"The '65 or the '71?"
"'65. Then turn left at the blue Mustang, right at the lifted Jeeps, through the diving left hander, and over the hill. I'm at the top near the guy with the Mopars"

I'm not from a small town, but my best friend and I used to give directions like that.

The red Skylark? it's in the back yard now. Hasn't moved in quite a while. Driver "went away."
