I’m not sleepy and there ain’t no place I’m going to... (Page 1/1)

In 1964, when the Beatles came to New York to do the Ed Sullivan show, Francis Hall made arrangements to meet George to show him a brand new guitar his company had just designed.

George loved the guitar so he and John each ordered one. They used them the following year on “A Hard Day’s Night”.

When Roger McGuinn saw the movie, he knew that he had to have one and before 1965 was over, you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing George Harrison or Roger McGuinn playing a Rickenbacker 360/12.

Before long, every kid who ever dragged a pick across a set of strings dreamed of someday owning such a guitar. I was one of those kids and my day has finally come.

I will never be able to afford that Lamborghini Miura, but to a guy like me this is the next best thing.

Pssttt.....Believe me.

You dont WANT an exotic car.

They may look good, but the truth is they are one gigantic, expensive, driveway ornament.

Buy a Fiero conversion, leave it sitting there with something broken you cant get parts for, and you have exactly the same thing at 1/100th the price.

Suweet!.
Recently lamenting not buying a few guitars/basses I'd seen in pawn shops 20-25 years ago, one I almost bought was a Rick bass with stereo Rick-O-Sound jacks for $225. A very beat up bass, but still. What a deal I passed on.

A 4001 bass?

My 360/12 has the Rock-O-Sound, what a silly name. I can't wait to run it though my recording interface and put on some headphones. My EJ-200 is also stereo and I like the way it sounds through headphones.

Yes, that's it. 4001. Has 2 input jacks. Only encountered 1 Rickenbacker bass in any pawn shops here that I remember. It stayed there for a few months due to mods.

That's a lot of strings.
Have only had my hands on a 12 string a few times.

Nice guitar, I'm a little green.

Got a cheap Applause 12 string acoustic for hacking out Over the Hills - Led.
Makes people who can't play think I can play.

A quick (27 second) sound clip, the song from which the thread title was derived:
