I'm more proud of what she says at 1:30 in this clip than I'll be when they land on the moon. This is how a real American thinks, not the race, gender, and class baiting that the media endlessly peddles.[This message has been edited by 2.5 (edited 12-11-2020).]

Sorry to bring the reality of the environment back but the story appears contrary to what you're thinking since the focus was about females. The media focus is about a woman walking on the Moon. The court of public opinion will be about gender and in this environment it will become about race as the White looking woman will be placed in line behind the mixed race one. Unless the White looking woman can claim a religious superiority.

Thats my point though, the lady being interviewed ignored that agenda, and forced the conversation away from it with things that really matter. Thats wat its going to take, thinking individuals.
I completely understand. When I saw this on the news and they started focusing on the women I said to my wife sarcastically "oh thats all well and good..but how many of them are black"...lol? Its getting silly.[This message has been edited by 2.5 (edited 12-11-2020).]

I am so glad we are returning to the moon. It's like living next door to Yosemite and never going for a hike.
President Harris will screw it up one way or another.

The common opinion is that people with minority status, which is specific to women, are aware that they can't seperate their success from a quota system. Stating it's not about gender while being interviewed because of your gender would be a natural defense it seems to me.
I heard an accounting of the Moon Shot wherein Kennedy demanded some Blacks be inserted in the astronaut program. There was immediate tension from Whites who got skipped over when they had more experience and longer commitments to their science. When Kennedy died that part of the quota ended.[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 12-11-2020).]

I think the "sustainable" part is going to be tough. Actually, that's an understatement. I think it'll be be a huge money-pit. But I would love to be proven wrong.

Who will be the first to harvest an asteroid of it's minerals? Because, is that what this latest turn is about? About making the next step to commercially mining space?[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 12-11-2020).]

Totally agree! Identity politics doesn't belong anywhere, but ESPECIALLY not in freakin space, were one mistake means death.

As long as Matt Damon doesn't go I'm all for it! Every time he goes into space it turns into a sh*t show.
