He was America's 1st public 'space' hero, and was lucky to have lived thru the early days of that kind of test flight.

RIP General Yeager. He was one of my inspirations for becoming a fighter pilot. The Right Stuff was an awesome read for a wannabe. (Fate Is The Hunter is another)

I was stationed at Edwards in the 1990s, you could see him and his history all over that base.

Growing up, it was him and Evil Knievel.
