Wow, this is a new one... what possibly could be the benefit or fun in this? Is it the rush of almost dying? Sigh...

This is part of why everyone needs a "cheap" dash cam w/ enough memory to record 3 to 4 hrs min before overwrite. Many very good Dash Cams < $100us now. More so as go on sale for Black Friday, etc. 16 to 32gb SD card is good for many users.
Put camera behind inside mirror to camouflage as best as you can and route wires too so not obvious to see and make a theft target.
While temped to send video to YT etc. Don't. Many Courts don't like that for many reasons when you use it as proof/evidence and/or "Victims" can sue you for this alone. Is easy to sue for "privacy" in US but way easier in many other counties. Often You loose a lot of time and money even if you win.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. You are so right... cameras always catch evil.
We have a camera that's focused on the front of our house, driveway, mailbox, etc... because some illegals were stealing our mail. They were waiting for an insurance check on my house. The house sat vacant for basically 2 years, and some illegals thought it would be a good idea to act like they were tenants and commit insurance fraud. They never rented the house, never lived in the house, and I got the check before they did. I called the insurance company after opening it, told them it was fraud, and tore up the check (they asked me to mail it back, but I just shredded it).
Anyway... I had a camera on the mailbox, and a truck drove by to deliver some exercise equipment I purchased. As they were pulling away, the back of the truck hit my mailbox (which is one of those big fancy Texas brick mailboxes). Caught it all on camera. I called the company nicely to tell them their truck had hit my mailbox. They told me it was my word against theirs. I took a picture of the video that I had recorded from my home CC security camera. I got a check two weeks later.

There was a scam going around Toronto area back around 2012. Bumper-to-bumper commute traffic, and somebody would throw it into reverse then deliberately back into you. Claiming you had rear-ended them. Cameras got real popular real quick and the scam went away.

One of several staged crash scrams sim to "Swoop and Squat" scam used in many places. While happens less now in many areas that and other scams are still used and another reason to have dash cams.

Suggest don't say anything about video at the scene because "Victims" can go after you, the camera or torch the car to destroy the "tape." If the car has to get towed then grab the camera along w/ other things. Towed vehicles even by city often will be robbed and often in minutes to few hours in many places.

QFT First hand experience with this. Several years ago, my son decided to use my truck and gooseneck trailer to "help" a friend. Said he got run off the road by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction and destroyed both truck and trailer. Both got towed in. While sitting at the tow in lot waiting on the insurance folks, both trailer spares were stolen, all the tie downs and chains were missing, the truck's spare tire (new), the brake controller and everything (including tools) worth having or pawning was missing. This was a very expensive lesson. Yes, I had insurance but, much of what was stolen was not.
