What is a sad story?
Monkeyman NOV 08, 02:38 PM
williegoat---You are correct. The board is yours.

OP (and all)---Definitely a sad, sad day. By all accounts, Mr. Trebek was an everyman. He was the guy that most would have looked up to had they known him.

RIP Mr. Trebek. You will be missed.

He had a fantastic life far and away beyond almost everyone on the planet and that ain't so sad, especially at 80.
An acquaintance says Alex hit on his wife, but he felt like it was a compliment.

Maybe a coincidence but on You Tube the SNL Sean Connery /Alex Trebek Jeopardy series has rotated into my playlist. It's been a while since I laughed that hard. The last one I viewed late last night was when Alex came out and said goodnight with Will Farrell who played him so well.

Exactly.
It's called character.

Why that is so alien is beyond me...

Perfection!
And they both (Trebek, Connery) died in the same week.

Trebek was a really cool / decent guy... always positive... loved what he did.

In recent years--part of a Fiero event--I was on one of the daily (I guess) group tours of Hearst Castle near San Simeon. Closed now for Covid. But as the tour bus drove my group from stop to stop, we listened over the bus PA system to the narration of the tour by Alex Trebek. No one could have narrated it better.
