The Polish Navy... wait, is this another of those now frowned upon 'Polish' jokes? (Page 1/1)

No. But it struck me, in the report that's been published in CNN, that it never says the "Polish Navy" or "Poland's Navy." Just "the Navy." I thought maybe it was the U.S. Navy. The tell is "8th Coastal Defense Flotilla." Google that. It's the Polish Navy.

I wonder if there was a reluctance to say "Polish Navy" or "Poland's Navy." Let alone "sailors of Polish ethnicity who serve in Poland's Navy."

So, here's the fairly brief report, but it doesn't answer that long-standing question "How many Poles does it take to disarm a gravity bomb?"

Wasn't it last year the US Navy had an all female commanded ship that crashed in a most embarrassing manner? The news didn't state the woman driver, but danced around it verbally.

Oh, yeah. Polish is not an ethnicity. They're largely a Slavic people.

No need. It exploded as the Polish Navy divers were attempting to disarm it, tho all divers were clear of the danger area when it went off.

WARSAW - The biggest World War Two bomb ever found in Poland exploded under water on Tuesday as navy divers tried to defuse it.

More than 750 people had been evacuated from the area near the Piast Canal outside the town of Swinoujscie where the Tallboy bomb used by Britain's Royal Air Force (RAF) was found. It weighed nearly 12,000 lbs, including almost 5,300 lbs of explosive.

"The deflagration process turned into detonation. The object can be considered as neutralized, it will not pose any more threat," Second-Lieutenant Grzegorz Lewandowski, the spokesman of the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla, was quoted as saying by state-run news agency PAP
