Lost my best friend Ronnie this past friday. He was home alone on his off day, and had a heart attack, his wife found him on the floor when she came home from work.
Just came outta nowhere, he was a bit overweight but was relatively young (41) and had no known health problems.
I've lost friends before, and its always hard, but this one is a rough one for me.
Ronnie was more like family than a friend. We've been best buddies since high school, and we never drifted apart like we tend to do with most friends as we get older. He's been my one consistent friend for over 25 years, my brother. I don't think I've gone more than a day or two without talking to or seeing him in all those years. He was that one friend that I share all my victories and failures with, and knows all my bullshit, was always there when i needed him. That kind of friend..
Was out running errands today, and decided to stop by my local retro game store and pick up a few Super Nintendo games. Got back to my car, and just by instinct i grabbed my phone to call Ronnie to tell him what games i got, like i always do when i get some new games. Gonna be really hard to get used to not talking to him everyday.
Anyway, i know nobody here knew him or anything, I'm just venting i suppose. I guess just take it as a lesson, if you got a best buddy, make sure you let them know they are your best buddy.. Cause ya never know when they won't be there anymore.[This message has been edited by Jonesy (edited 10-04-2020).]

Sorry for your loss Jonesy. None of us ever knows when that time will come for ourselves, or family members or friends. One day here.......one day just.............gone.
Fear no more the heat o’ the sun, Nor the furious winter’s rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages: Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

Jonesy, you have my most sincere condolences. I went through the same thing in 2008. Somehow, it seems like both yesterday and a hundred years ago.
The crushing hurt will subside... but even now, all these years later, I'll think of something I want to ask/tell my buddy... and then remember it's no longer possible.

So very sad for your loss. One of my grandson's lost his best friend to a car accident a week ago Friday, she had been his best friend since elementary school, through JROTC and National Guard. Sudden. Lost my wife and best friend ten years ago this month...they are always with you.

Its tough to loose a friend that is that close.
Sorry for your loss. I hope that his family is ok during this time. Death of a close loved one can really tip your life on edge.
If it helps I dug out my Baldur's Gate CDs and loaded the game to see if it would run. It did, had no one to tell. Funny how that goes. Now you know.
Take care, enjoy while you can.
