Jurors taking their oath seriously is another matter. Whether guilty or innocent, I'll always remember the juror that gave OJ the Black Power fist as the jury left the court room. One should wonder about that and now this. Not suggesting the jury was wrong, just noting what occurred.

Yep, for well over 200 years.
It's not a perfect system, it never was and never will be and there will be errors. Both during deliberations and during the jury selection process. There always has been. Had this same jury came up with an opposite verdict with the exact same testimony and evidence presented, the same ones complaining today, would lauding the jury's honesty and intelligence, even those in law enforcement and who have previously had close occupational ties to law enforcement.
Why?
Most people look at the world as they are and not as it is; they look at it thru their own mind's eye and not thru that world's eyes.
That, isn't supposed to happen in the jury box. Does It?
Maybe but until PROVEN otherwise, I have faith that the great majority of time, it does not.[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 05-05-2021).]

Most everybody sees the world through the lens of the media that tells them how to digest what is presented. For instance, "The deadly Charlottesville rally". One woman who was 4'-9" or 4'-11" or so, weighing over 310 lbs died of a heart attack during a car crash wherein she was stoned and defying orders to disburse like the rest of the communists that came to attack the nationalists in a permitted rally.

She gave an interview recently where she flat out said America is MORE racist now than at any time in our past. I still can't figure out if she is just looney tunes or if she is working an Al Sharpton kind of angle where if she repeats this crap long enough people will believe it?

I believe 'some' in America are, and those that are, are more outspoken about it. (or perhaps it's the ability to get their voices more loudly heard via the internet instead of the hushed nuances of neighborhood bars and coffeeshops)
Overall tho, no.
It's nothing like it was in the late '50s and all thru the '60s.

The federal grand jury has indicted Chauvin and 3 others on federal civil rights charges in the death of Floyd and in a separate indictment, has charged Chauvin in a 2017 incident involving a teenage boy.

Well, she has a point. I've never seen the over the top racism until BLM started attacking White people and Blacks posting videos of attacks on Whites.

To suggest racism isn't alive and well in the US would be silly but, to conclude that the US is a racist nation would be just as silly.
Humans (like other herd animals) tend to congregate or gather with others who have similar tendencies, attributes, education, etc...... Whether that be race, education, financial or other issues. It is what we do. No group can claim that is not the case. It is also true that groups of people will always want what others have whether that's opportunity, wealth, values or other things. Does that make them racist? Maybe if, "they" seek it as a group to take it from another group. Individually though, we all want what is best for us. Doesn't matter what color, sex or nationality we are. This nation (above all others to my knowledge) offers more opportunity than anywhere else on earth. If one earns it, then they are respected regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex or any other variable. Try to take it through other measures and not so much.

White Western societies are the most altruistic of all, and it's still not enough for some groups.

And that is being promoted by our corporate media; taking from one group by another.
Look at all anti-Asian attacks by POC. They all scream racist assaults as they physically, brutally attack Asians.
