You have a good point. I really had no idea what to expect from Trump, but I voted for him because he wasn't Hillary. It worked out much better than I expected.

There was, (and is), the prospect that President Trump would also do exactly what he has done in nominating textualists to the Supreme Court.
Additionally his campaign promise to build that wall was motivating to a lot of voters. Who could forget the chants at campaign rallies.
Those two issues, as well as many more were, and are, highly motivating reasons to vote for President Trump.
