like this guy for example he may or may not have been a flat earth guy and more so he just wanted to fly a rocket on someone else's dime... I think the chance of shilling flat earth for fame and or fortune is a very very large part of it as everyone in the community seems to be fighting for a spot as the "famous" guy in the movement. In some cases people sell things related to it but I'd say its more about the social power aspects of it. |

I agree with this. I think there's a couple of different concepts at play... you have people who are just kind of crazy (as we saw in the convention video), and then you have people who are to a slight extent, maybe borderline famous and they use things like this to make themselves popular or in the news. Most of us are fairly normal when it comes to attention, but for some people, attention is still attention, even if most of it is negative.
Sucks about how that guy died though. During re-entry, I'm not sure exactly I saw where the rocket went... you just saw the guy falling and then they faded out the video just before he landed / died.

Would have been a good Myth Busters episode.

Probably not many. The fact it ran on compressed air and didnt even go as high as a RC drone can fly its probably just classified under the same protections as extremely small personal aircraft like paragliders.

What do flat earthers have to fear?
Only sphere itself.

You must've watched the video on a phone. That was the rocket itself we see falling. There are other uploads of this video (higher resolution as well) on YouTube where the impact is shown.

' Hey, Wile E. , whatcha building ? ' ' My ACME rocket machine ! '
' Magnarmis 12 days ago The Roadrunner gets away again...
'
The Right Stuff, the fails. The parachute deployed because it was programmed to deploy below 15K ft ! Forensic report ' The electronic logic was flawed, neglecting to run an inside loop, testing for air pressure below ambient, ground level altitude. First, the rocket must reach planned velocity and altitude, apogee. '
' Ballistics ? Why would I have to study ballistics ? '
The Right Stuff, the Movie.

Rocket man's quest should be celebrated. Confirming the truth of reality, and the other truth, that there are humans willing to risk their existences to folly. ' The forensic investigation has determined the designer failed due diligence, a reality check was not included on the countdown list. ' ' The rocket struck the Earth in a parabolic path at an accelerating gravitational constant ! '
