Didn't expect to be posting this on a Fiero site, but check out "Trio of Doom" (McLaughlin, Jaco Pastorius, and Tony Williams) and "Jaco" (Pastorius with Pat Metheny).
I am sure you are probably familiar with him, but Pastorius sounds like what Jimi Hendrix would do on an electric bass.
