It takes a special kind of coward to defeat 17 established repulsivecans and win the Republican nominee for President. Extra special to then defeat 'Shillary'. Super special to defeat fake news.
Did you hear cvxjet ? Joe Biden handed Putin a win. Your President said he believes Putin is a killer. Putin handed Biden his azz. He challenged Biden to an open meeting, live on the internet. Did you mention coward ? The handlers behind the curtain said Biden was too busy.

They have to shoot Biden up with meth to get him most of the way through a meeting.
Joe the meth head. His son is a crack head.

Biden has handed several 'wins' to Putin and Xi.
Shutting down the pipeline extension had the effect of raising worldwide crude oil prices - the LIFEBLOOD of the Russians.
Let's extend the list, shall we - there are more examples.
Everyone feel free to add to the list.

I wonder if there is a prevailing sentiment among the owners and managers and among the rank and file of U.S. oil and gas producers about what Biden has done on these pipeline projects.
Seems like these pipeline cancellation(s) would be somewhat advantageous, at least in the more immediate future, to companies that produce oil and gas from U.S. lands and territories. If they are looking at higher prices for what they could produce.
Also to be considered, the Biden administration is at odds (I believe) with Germany over that pipeline project that is going to bring natural gas from Russia to Germany. Sanctions. U.S. sanctions against that pipeline project. At odds with Germany, and perhaps at odds with some other countries in Europe about this. The Trump administration came out against it, and sanctioned it (I think) but also the Biden administration. Has the Biden administration sanctioned it even more than the Trump administration?

pipeline construction cancellations haven't affected benchmark crude prices. Projected demand increased earlier in the month as the pandemic begins to wane a bit globally (Europe excepted) and prices reflected that greater demand. Refiners and producers have already covered that projected demand increase and prices are beginning to ease down this week. WTI 30 day chart:

There are 2 ways to make $$ on any commodity. Smaller quantities at a higher unit price or larger quantities at a higher unit price. When fuel prices increase, consumers drive less and buy less. When prices decrease, consumers drive more and buy more fule.
Sure, every producer of any commodity would love to sell higher quantities at higher unit price, but since oil and refined fuels are globally traded on the open market, the producers have to settle for whatever the market provides.[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 03-19-2021).]

I do agree with Don on this but, in general, producers and retailers will look for opportunities to raise prices in order to make more profit. I recently did quite a bit of traveling and asked at several fuel stops why the price of fuel was going up. Now, I fully realize that the people I was asking were not the most knowledgeable about world oil production or even much more than retail sales but, every time I asked, the answer was the same. Biden cutting the pipeline off. That doesn't make it true but, it does indicate the train of thought between Hattiesburg, MS and Surprise, AZ, Hattiesburg, MS and Austin, TX and Hattiesburg, MS and KCMO. I bought a lot of fuel on these three journeys. What really surprised me was the fact that while traveling, frequently I would see price variations of as much as 45 cents per gallon within reasonable short distances (5 miles) all along the interstate system of the highways I traveled. I'm not used to seeing that much difference in retail pricing.
