MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell reminded his viewers tonight (I wasn't watching, but the other one told me) that pardons do not have to be publicly revealed. In (legal) theory, a pardon could remain a secret between the President and the person who accepts the pardon, and it would not be revealed to anyone else unless (and until) the person submits the pardon to a judge in a bid to protect himself against having to litigate as a defendant in court.
