Sounds so noble, except your actions (or lack thereof) may be putting other people at risk... but I get the impression you don't much care.

No more than a regular flu season.

Alcohol and marijuana shops are open in Washington State. You cannot go into a forest, but there is no issue with crossing paths with hundreds of people at Walmart?

“The real problem is that when human societies lose their freedom, it’s not usually because tyrants have taken it away. It’s usually because people willingly surrender their freedom in return for protection against some external threat. And the threat is usually a real threat but usually exaggerated. That’s what I fear we are seeing now. The pressure on politicians has come from the public. They want action. They don’t pause to ask whether the action will work. They don’t ask themselves whether the cost will be worth paying. They want action anyway. And anyone who has studied history will recognize here the classic symptoms of collective hysteria.” ~ Lord Jonathan Sumption

Except, the # of Covid-19 deaths are cumulative to every other death...they have to be added TO a regular flu season's fatalities.
In the US, as of midnight Apr 5, that's 9,620 more/extra/additional people that died in addition to the 24,000 that have died (estimated) from the flu season as of the week ending March 28, 2020, as reportedby CDC.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

162 influenza-associated deaths in children have been reported so far this season. This number is higher than recorded at the same time in every season since reporting began in 2004-05, except for the 2009 pandemic.
CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 39 million flu illnesses, 400,000 hospitalizations and 24,000 deaths from flu.

That means that this year, in the approx 68 days since Jan 29th when the 1st US Covid-19 patient presented, the covid deaths = more than 1/3 the total of 5 months of flu deaths.

Now I realize a lot of people don't care. They miss their daily lives, their work schedules are interrupted, they couldn't go on springbreak and get drunk, the whole grocery thing, and their portfolios (like mine) is way down, but that's 9600 lives so far. Someone's parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, neighbors. These are real people..or were. Easy for some I suppose to blow 'em off and even put a price tag or value on them. Hell, we don't know them...just nameless faceless Americans that are causing us some discomfort in our otherwise insignificant little lives.

Meanwhile, China and the rest of Asia is going back to business as usual, because they understand that this isn't really a huge deal. Yeah, there is some attention needed, the medical community will have their hands full for awhile, but we can handle this. Nothing will be overrun, other than GD toilet paper.

Think it will re-emerge in Asia 2 weeks from 3/28?

Those people in line standing right next to each other are brain-dead. Why do they think the number of people allowed in the store is being limited? The large supermarket I go to once a week has also instituted this policy. Everyone, and mean everyone keeps their distance from each other. It's the new "normal". People here are taking social distancing seriously.

This was exactly my thought as well. I understand limiting the number of people in the store, controlling the entrances and exits (so people get anti-bacterial at the entrance, and a cleaned cart, etc...). But this was silly... there were 40 people, all directly right next to each other. It really just took a situation that was supposed to make things better, and ended up making it worse.

China is working again because the government completely closed an entire province for months, closed every business except food for 2 months, closed all schools, and stopped all foreigners from traveling here. In addition every person outside their home is tested for fever several times a day. I still avoid anyone without a mask. If you have a fever you are going to the hospital without question.

The signs say something about fighting the virus together.

Despite the strides that have been taken in Canada and the US, the lack here of readily available COVID-19 testing is still a concern IMO.
