Often this will be covered by an employer note stating will not be paid. My jobs years ago did same saying no paid off or limited paid off then often was dropped from appearing.
In Many places, juries have stipends to reduce the cost but not helpful for many people, or 1 parent family, etc, & can't take days to month of time in a jury.
Most juries are Not Sequestered & go home @ end of business day but many can't do that like 1 parent family... BIG issues is Must read & follow the rules because if you failed, Dismissal from active jury is lest of your problems. Can get big fines even arrested depending what you did to fail.

Did you go through the metal detector and fill in the questionnaire?

My employer has always paid me full time for days I spent on jury duty. Once, when I reported back after 1st day of selection, that I had been chosen, the personnel girl looked at me and said "Yeah, we kinda knew you would be." Just as it's pretty easy to get excused by knowing how to answer the questions, it's equally easy to get selected by knowing how to answer with what both prosecutor and defense want to hear. I never once tho tried to get out of work. Every job I ever had, I really loved and worked for some really great employers here in Texas and in Louisiana.

Depending on what I was doing, for parts of my life I had a very "clean cut" appearance and at other times i looked kind of "scruffy" (the real me).
Scruffy Willie was NEVER selected for a jury.
