Publish Spec's often don't meet Real World use and wears out fast or just breaks. (Mini and Micro HDMI and Display Ports have similar issues when are actually used.)

I like the fact that USB-C can be plugged in either way (no such thing as being upside down), but I agree that the ports are way too flimsy. I have a Dell laptop which utilizes USB-C, and I use the following adapter with it. It works really well, but yeah, I'm figuring it's just a matter of time before the port on the laptop dies.

While those work...
Because all ports run off an USB hub inside, is not going to have best speed/performance of many ports or have power to whatever even if some are not used.

Is why some think USB RAID of storage devices is "good" but is very slow because of Hub(s) between devices and system.
Even "Old" Win__ ReadyBoost can use several Flash devices but doing so rarely helps because of root hub(s) vs 1 device formatted to ExFat or NTFS to allow 32GB ReadyBoost.sfcache file. (Max allowed by RB for 1 device but Normally many Thumb Drives still default to Fat32 and limit file size to 4GB.)

A multi-port USB-C adapter may not provide the "best" speed/performance, but it sure beats ZERO speed/performance when there is no other option!

I have a JBL bluetooth speaker of which I ruined the charge port. From trying to make the wrong connector plug in. It seemed like I had the right one, but it was like a square plug in a round hole.

A replacement is not made. What should I do ?

Had a similar problem with a Sony digital camera when I lost the charge and usb data transfer cable for it. Proprietary for Sony. Wasn't cheap to replace and hard to find a new one.
Got tired of having to charge the battery on a stand alone charger and pulling the SD card to pull images off it so I bought a new camera and gave the Sony to someone else.

Many Cameras use(d) USB and AV on same port on them.
Example: Fujifilm FinePix T550 (And many others) have a "D" shape socket.
Cables for them:
D to USB A for data out and charging.

D to Video and Mono Audio, both RCA plug.

If you tried Micro B etc then you can wreck the camera port.

Kodak before bankrupt had many odd cable end + 2 or more docking plugs that docks had AV, Data and charging. (Some of those also had Dye Sub Printer.)
Some Nikon's have same problem and data/AV on 1 port and charging another and worse is many charger are hard to even when new because of total weird plug.

vs Some Samsung have Micro B for data out and charging.

IOW Dig Cameras have been as bad or worse as Phones for proprietary plugs and chargers.

My next stupid questions.

Why all devices magically need the same ... charge voltage ? From a 120v usb adapter. Why do all usb chargers charge everything ? How do you tell which usb charger is more powerful, or gentile ? Is a slow charge better than a fast charge for battery longevity ?

European Union rules to force USB-C chargers for all phones

My lobbyist can beat up your lobbyist. I do know, Europe never adopted 120vAC.

You don't get out much. Catholics have theirs, even ISIS have chargers.

Thanks, good info.

My next stupid questions.

Does the charging adapter wear out if it remains plugged in, not charging ?

I have a charger / device, which has a magnetic connection. It gets 'attached' to the side of my desktop tower. Does it hurt anything ?
