From a friend of mine in the P.I. a few days ago.
The results of Typhoon Karding's storm surge in Manila.
More than one way to get around flooded streets I suppose...

There are no words... I start thinking of something to say about this, and then I stop.

Tree was leaning a bit after the storm. It had hugh limb that was over the garage, had a guy take it down today. I'm sure it was a few thousand lbs. When some pieces hit the ground, it shook the house. He cut it back to the tree, was about 3 feet thick, Of course he cut it in sections.

We had electric restored last niight, the generator did great. I'll treat it to an oil & plug change.

Had the insurance adjuster out here on Oct 5, he was good, found some damage in my kitchen that I wasn't aware of. They are covering the cost of a new roof for the house and the garage, new kitchen countertops, gutters, repair a small area of kitchen ceiling that was showing a water stain and the cost to repaint the entire ceiling. Cost to replace the garage ceiling covering and labor cost to install (which I installed and will reinstall) , replacement of the courtyard carpet.
Overall we were very lucky, many other homes had more damage.

Here's a quick video during the storm, winds were tearing down huge trees.

A hurricane will reveal weaknesses and leaks you never knew you had and create even more. The rain like in that video went on for 3 days straight when Hurricane Harvey paid me a visit. It was non-stop torrential with only sporadic letups. (the wind blew not nearly so much)

Back in 2004 Tropical Storm Jeanne passed directly over my home. The winds apparently tore a ridge vent loose on a section of my roof. The vent remained on the roof and looked ok from the ground but the sheet metal flange / seal was torn along a 4-5 foot section.

We didn't discover the damage until a water leak stain appeared in the ceiling of our master bedroom walk-in closet in 2010, (6 YEARS later).
By that time we needed new plywood roof sheeting, shingles, truss repair, insulation (due to mold) and of course the ceiling sheet rock, plaster and paint redone.

I didn't even try to fight with my homeowners insurance over it. I just paid out of pocket for the repairs.

82-T/A are you paying attention?

I have a friend who lives two blocks off the beach in Daytona. She's thrilled.

Y'all take care. Again.
