That was a very well thought out dissertation. I was quite impressed by the presenter and what he had to say, so I checked out some more of his videos, including This one. Good stuff. Seems like a very honorable guy.

Steve, for some individuals, it seems attributes other than the artist's talent play a huge role in regards as to whether they'll allow themselves to enjoy, or even to expose themselves to that artist's work. This doesn't only apply to musicians of course, but also to actors. It always blows me away when I read someone post here that they won't bother to watch a particular movie because some actor or another is in it with political opinions contrary to their own. Geez, so what! It's not like this actor has the power to magically pause the movie, step out of character, and pontificate their political views.

You misunderstand.
I specifically mentioned Roger Waters (with a nod to Nugent and Springsteen). None of them appeal to me that much.
Someone's political affiliation, or number of eyes, or whatever, generally won't stop me from listening to them, or even buying their music. (Or watching their movies, etc.)
Generally they keep their ideology to themselves on studio albums (musical content notwithstanding, but I can overlook that if I like the music.) If I avoid a movie, it's usually because I heard that it sucks - not because of the political ideology of the actor. But then, I haven't paid to see a movie since the LOTR trilogy.

But... if I'm paying to see a live performance, I just don't want to hear a political rant. I'm paying for a performance - not to hear the artist vent their spleen about whatever is their hot-button issue dujour.

Steve, my comments ("some individuals...") in response to your post were not referring to you.

The last concert I attended was Three Dog Night. I don't remember the year but it was long ago. Would not cross the street to see any concert today, too many people and costs way to much for the experience. $4,300 is just stupid. I don't like large crowds. Just call me (whatever), don't care. Too many idiots and assholes go to events like this and I'm not interested in participating or even being in the vicinity.
