Except in this case, the "6-year-old" outsmarted the truckers. The truckers want to block traffic... fine, two can play at that game. Downtown Vancouver is basically surrounded by water on three sides, so there's only a limited number of ways to get there. The access routes to downtown were therefore being cut off to large trucks by the cyclists. The general public has learned a lesson from the Ottawa experience... don't let the anarchists gain a foothold!

Guess what. It still blocked the roads from the look of it...

This is eventually gonna fade away to the same nothingness the "Occupy" movement did. Why? $$$ Truck payments and putting beans on the table will take precedence.
Unlike places in other parts of the world, where people actually do take up arms and revolt, eveything of this nature in North America is predicated on big talk, no action, and of course, those talking loudest are always the least likely, least equipped, least trained to do otherwise.

It definitely slowed traffic, but cars had access to routes that large trucks didn't. More importantly, I don't believe the truckers had the ability (in any great numbers) to set up camp in downtown Vancouver.

I've been watching for any names or logos. I'm pretty sure it's almost totally independent truckers. I can't imagine Walmart, Schneider, UPS, FedEx, JB Hunt or any of the other major trucking companies allowing their trucks to be involved and not delivering goods/products. Their drivers may agree with the protest but, I'd bet parking any corporate truck would involve a very quick termination. I mentioned those trucking companies just off the top of my head, their are probably others that I am not aware of in Canada.

The independent trucker have the most to lose. If they are not getting the more lucrative runs because they can not crossing the border they are just another small business that goes under.

Understood. Those are the same guys and gals that have those big truck/trailer payments. I suspect they'll be back to work before that next payment is due. Or not.
They always have options.

I suspect most (if not all) of the big trucks there are the O/O's that got shut down from crossing the border by the mandate.

They GOT no jobs/work to go back to.

I'm not there and have to go by news reports. But a reporter was interviewing a group of drivers a couple days ago and they all agreed that 90% of those truckers participating in the "Protest" were vaccinated. I'm not saying that's true, only repeating what those truckers said. If that is true then they could cross the border. Or, am I misinformed about border crossings?

The vaxxed ones no problem with crossing.

What set this whole thing off was Trudeau's mandate that UNvaxxed had to quarantine for 14 days on every trip back into Canada.

Well, that and a WHOLE lot of pent-up frustration with the whole mess.

And some of us who just enjoy a good go at the left whatever the excuse...er....reason....

As I previously stated Here in the thread that the trolls derailed, 90% of the cross-border truckers in Canada have been vaccinated. As to whether 90% of the "protesters" have been vaccinated, I have my doubts.
