Maybe it's due to Disney's use of it in Fantasia, maybe not, but it captures the *spirit* of the holiday for me more than any other.

Night #12: Saint-Saens: Symphony No. 3 "The Organ Symphony"
I LOVE this piece! I have already listened to it three times over the last two days, and I am listening once again as I type this.

Great choice.
If I can't have my Edvard Grieg, Hall of the Mountain King in this "Halloween hit parade" this is a great substitute.
Interestingly, another very well known and dramatic piece, "Bolero", was composed by one of Saint-Saens' students, Maurice Ravel.
I can't carry a tune in a bucket and have never aspired to be a musician nor do I think I could ever be one but I love music and I generally have some classic or jazz playing in my office at all times. It helps me relax and concentrate.
My wife is very good keyboard, guitar and hammered dulcimer player so she delights in being the sole musician in our household but she LOATHES classical.....go figure.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 10-31-2021).]

Night #13...drum roll please...
And now for the pièce de résistance, reserved for Halloween night, the quintessential Halloween piece and one of my favorites since I was about eight years old...
From 1874: (no, I was not eight years old in 1874)
Camille Saint-Saens opus 40: “Danse Macabre”

In a better world, that would have been playing at the pavilion dance scene in Carnival of Souls, but alas, the director opted for organ music.
But, I thought Sqiggy died..No?
