Maybe it's due to Disney's use of it in Fantasia, maybe not, but it captures the *spirit* of the holiday for me more than any other.

BOOBIES!!

Night #12: Saint-Saens: Symphony No. 3 "The Organ Symphony"

I LOVE this piece!
I have already listened to it three times over the last two days, and I am listening once again as I type this.

Great choice.

If I can't have my Edvard Grieg, Hall of the Mountain King in this "Halloween hit parade" this is a great substitute.

Interestingly, another very well known and dramatic piece, "Bolero", was composed by one of Saint-Saens' students, Maurice Ravel.

I can't carry a tune in a bucket and have never aspired to be a musician nor do I think I could ever be one but I love music and I generally have some classic or jazz playing in my office at all times. It helps me relax and concentrate.

My wife is very good keyboard, guitar and hammered dulcimer player so she delights in being the sole musician in our household but she LOATHES classical.....go figure.

And here I thought you weren't a drinking man.

Night #13...drum roll please...

And now for the pièce de résistance, reserved for Halloween night, the quintessential Halloween piece and one of my favorites since I was about eight years old...

From 1874:
(no, I was not eight years old in 1874)

Camille Saint-Saens opus 40: “Danse Macabre”

What a "horrifying" piece to end with on the most appropriate night.

Thanks for including my two most favorite "All Hallows Eve" pieces of music.

I'm still partial to Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain, but that is easily interchangeable with Danse Macabre as I alluded to very early in this thread.

As a "point of probably no interest", my wife heard me playing this in my office this evening and came in to ask me if this was the same melody that Disney World plays in the "Haunted Mansion" ride during the holographic ghosts waltzing in the ballroom section.......(it is indeed)

From "Totentanz" (Death Dance)

Death says to the emperor:

Emperor, your sword won't help you out
Sceptre and crown are worthless here
I've taken you by the hand
For you must come to my dance

Death calls the peasant to his dance, and the peasant answers:

I had to work very much and very hard
The sweat was running down my skin
I'd like to escape death nonetheless
But here I won't have any luck

Sooner or later we will all do the Totentanz so lets do it to great music.

In a better world, that would have been playing at the pavilion dance scene in Carnival of Souls, but alas, the director opted for organ music.

But, I thought Sqiggy died..No?
