The "rebooted" Model S, the Plaid Edition has a 520 mile range. That is almost Mercedes diesel range.

Couple that with free supercharging and that's a heck of a way to travel around the country.

The price for entry to the Plaid Edition is still in the 100K range.

Thought they terminated the FREE supercharging last year?

When you are paying over 100K for a car it better come with free supercharging.

The Kansas City Tesla dealer told me the X and the S still have free supercharging (new and used purchasing used on certain "dates") .

$140,000 and as far as I know it does NOT come w/free supercharging. Anyone w/$140,000 isn't going to worry about paying for supercharging.

Excellent point.

Some of the older cars (like this one!) do have free lifetime Supercharging, but Tesla phased it out on new cars a few years ago, and removes it from used cars they sell that had it.

First and final update: Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the car, over what I paid for it. If you haven't seen what the new and used car market is doing right now, a lot of used cars are actually APPRECIATING in value, it's nuts.

Not sure what I'm going to get next, newer Model S, Model 3?

Could always go back to the STI platform.... It'll seem crude and antiquated after all that tech in the Tesla!

A friend of mine bought a Tesla a couple years ago and I got a chance to test drive it. I do see the appeal! Lots of cool features.

I do miss the STI, but I don't miss driving it stoplight to stoplight in traffic every day, and there aren't any good roads around here. Maybe I'll wait until the new one is revealed in a couple months.

LOL It's the 1-2 shift that always gets me.... I have to concentrate in order to get it nice and smooth.

But I'm still used to my old '91 S-10 pickup which had a 5-speed that was so vague and forgiving anyone could drive it!
