MarkS, that plane is beautiful... did they actually build a working version? Does it still exist anywhere? ... like in a museum? So sad that Boeing never went forward with it. |

To include taking me Python hunting?
I believe Boeing canceled the development when they saw the Concorde was not economically feasible. Why build it if it couldn't make Boeing and airlines money........ Sonic Booms were also an issue with the Concorde, so flights were greatly restricted. Just working off memory but, I believe money was the primary factor. Expensive to build, maintain and operate with a pretty small number of the flying public able to afford to fly on them.

The SST program was shut down in great part ,due to the whinny ass publics' distaste for sonic booms.

Man... it couldn't have been all that bad. I don't think I've even seen or realized it... but when I lived in San Antonio, we were near a quarry. Every day at 10:45 (except Sunday), you'd hear a boom and rumble within a second of each other (I can't remember what came first). It was them blowing out the inside of the quarry.
Man, I really miss that house. We absolutely loved that home, and we'd completely renovated it entirely just how we liked it... tastefully in the "Hill Country Modern" styling. The neighborhood was fantastic, and it was close to everything. Right off 281, just above 1604... it was like 15 minutes from the airport, you name it. Oh well... better to have enjoyed it and left it, than never experienced it.
