Rafe, yeah... wife is not thrilled... but she's OK with it, as long as I promise to buy her a late 60s Volvo P1800 in the next 3 years... which means I'll have to get rid of the Corvette or the Solstice.
I gave the Solstice a good once-over, and there's a few things on it that are less than great, but otherwise it's still a good deal for $3,500 bucks.
- Passenger side door handle is broken (ordered a new one already) - Previous Owner hacked the headlight wiring with some dumb HIDs, going to revert to stock - Missing headlight screws, barely held in. - Slight front-end damage which has bent a couple of the brackets. - Frame is totally solid, same with bumper, but hood is slightly misaligned and contacted door which bent the hood slightly at the door fold. - Leak in the A/C system. - Intercooler has a hole in it at the bottom corner from parking stop damage... amazing that it still has so much power. - Rear-view Mirror is jiggling all over the place and broken (ordered a new one already) - Door pulls (to manually lock / unlock) are broken... just ordered some new chrome ones. - Need to polish out the headlights - Need to replace the front inner fender wells (cheap... they're like $50 a set)
Otherwise, it's totally complete and in great shape...

Ah yes, regardless of the brand or model, buying an older car always means buying someone else's issues they didn't want to fix.

From what I can kind of tell... it seems to me like the previous owner had upgraded the car... some of which he did, some of which a shop did (the intercooler is definitely not stock, it looks nothing like the aftermarket or factory ones out there)... and then he got into a small crash (no frame damage, just misaligned front bumper and some brackets) and then he traded it in at like CarMax or something, where it ended up at auction... and then I got it from that guy.
But man, even with a friggin' hole in the intercooler... the thing is ridiculously quick. It also doesn't look like the oil filter has ever been changed... it was really dirty. No metal or anything in it... it just seems like it's been in there forever.
