I guess I didn't realize that's what they were called. Makes sense Tux the Linux penguin. Just never thought about it. He surely is possessive and mean to others though. He gives a lot of love to me and the dog, so I guess that is what matters.

Yeah cats can be temperamental, they choose their friends with great care, and usually only trust a few. I'm still trying to get Buddy to warm up to my family, but so far he's only interested in hanging out with me. He's not mean to them or anything, just a bit skiddish of them..

Mine is a Friday cat. Gets along with me and Jane (and the dog) well, but will NOT come inside. I rescued it from living in the National Forest back at our old place in E Texas, and she was a true hunter. If it moves, and smaller than her, she is GONNA kill it. Came bringing us a fresh killed still bleeding hummingbird not long ago. Picky eater. Will eat dry cat food but will not touch any kind of can cat food, but you put some people type canned Tuna (Sorry Charlie, water packed only..won't touch oil packed Tuna) in front of her and she'll go to town on that.
Being a rescue, I have no idea how old she is. She had one litter not long after we kinda domesticated her and then we had her fixed. I think we have had her since 2018. Already mature then.
2 seconds after I snapped this picture, the dog nose flipped Cat out into the pool. I jumped up but Cat swam like a fish and clamored right out on her own. I never knew cats could swim.........

This is Carly. Your average Tabby Cat although we refer to her as a shed cat as she was born under our neighbors shed. We were able to rescue her and her brother Charlie (Charlie & Carly) when their momma disappeared one day. She is 16.5 years old & is still quite the athlete. Jumping up on things 4'+ high is no problem. I've had many cats over the years but none are as totally affectionate as this one.

I like mostly ALL animals...have had my share over the years...but I have to say, no way I'll ever keep up with the "Jonesy"!
You're a good man sir....as with all here who keep and minister to our "lesser" creatures.
"Dogs have masters....cats have staff." We have two at the moment, maybe I'll get a pic soon...they are both "long hairs"...and they put out enough "extra" hair to assemble a third cat every couple of weeks!

Sage knew all the good spots to nap in the sun!

According to a dying cat priest (Noel Coleman), "the sick and the lame" cat people did not go on the arks with the rest of the cats, and were left on Red Dwarf to die. Two of these cats were the Cat's parents, a female "cripple" and a male "idiot" who ate his own feet. Over time, the rest of the cat people died off.
Danny John-Jules as the Cat: A humanoid creature with cat-like teeth who evolved from the offspring of Lister's smuggled pet cat Frankenstein. The Cat or simply "Cat" (who is never given an actual name) is self-centered and concerned with little other than sleeping, eating, and fawning over his appearance, and tends not to socialise with other members of the crew in early episodes. Over time, he grows closer to his crewmates and becomes a useful part of the crew. Unlike his human companions, he has a "cool" sounding pulse, six nipples, and colour-coordinated internal organs.[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 11-10-2023).]
