Suspected methane explosion in Tx barn kills 18,000 cows (Page 3/3)

The good news is that the explosion prevented a lot of planet-warming methane from finding its way into the atmosphere.

The bad news is that most of it was converted into planet-warming carbon dioxide from being combusted in the explosion.

And people don't think we are at war, move along, move along, nothing to see here.

Ya'll do realize, that almost all the smoke in those pictures is from the building's wooden and plastic type materials burning and not the methane?
Methane produced by organic decomposition (cow manure) burns yellow or blue flame and it's burn time is pretty much instantaneous ie, an explosion.

I would never bet against your information, but ...

An attractive alternative to fossil fuels is the use of methane as a fuel. Combustion of this gas causes less CO2 emissions than petrol. Moreover, the production of this fuel could also solve the storage problem related to solar and wind energy, since methane can be stored for long periods of time.

Don, I initially searched for methane engines to see if my theory could be correct. I looked at a couple of articles. The above was not one of them, I just grabbed that quickly as I was busy.

The article which convinced me was about Caterpillar methane engines. I can't find it now but did grab some images of Cat methane engines.
