drive by wire (Page 3/5)

I think you missunderstood what 84 TA was saying.
The intake neck right after the throttle body has a spot that narrows. By adding material to the bottom of the plenum you can hog out that part of the intake and increase the volume and get rid of the choke point.
Easing the transition for the bigger throttle body is a good start but if there is a choke point it will negate the larger throttle body.
Same for the exhaust, if you do not remove the restrictions you will not see the full potential of your work.

Jake . it's all done. I have been following everybodys tricks for the 28 years i've had the car.

My TDI Fiero has drive by wire. It's not a 2.8, but it drives great. The pedal feel is just like a wired pedal.

CoolBlues I totally agree the drive by wire response is smooth and instant . hard to tell from cable operated throttle.

We're not talking about this 266 torque number?

Ls3 mach . what do you mean ? I know i am on the wrong thread but the rules wouldn't let me change to the tech thread. If you are questioning the dyno results I can probably post the video of the pulls.

Love to see it and the build. That's 100 more than stock out of 2.8. Unless I've just misread or understood.

I must be blind as hell, I can't seem to find the dyno results you're talking about. I'd love to see it, it sounds pretty awesome.

I see what you've done with the intake... are there other changes you've made to the engine itself, or is it totally stock? Reason I'm asking is that I've been thinking of updated my website with different options and things you can do for a "stock looking Fiero engine" and would appreciate hearing any additional things you've done to eek out some extra power.

Thanks!

82 T/A. yes I posted the main modifications before but here we go again. original block bored 1mm and new 3.1 crank ,flywheel and harmonic balancer. This gives 3.208 liter displacement. 10.5 to 1 Diamond coated racing pistons and Scat rods. Mellings high volume oil pump and Crower 3050 high performance cam ,lifters and timing chain kit. Rotating asembly assembled and balanced by K and S Machine in Kelowna BC. Stainless valves ,bronze guides and comp cams roller tip rockers. hi perf springs and retainers. Ford Racing 52 lb injectors . Headers and Ocelot stainless exhaust. Ram camaro clutch. Emtron sl6 ecu and accessories. Bosch and GM sensors. the picture is the best torque run and the video is the best hp run. This is at the wheels. Adian Norton from Emtron did the tuning and said we can get more power out of it but I asked him to keep it streetable as I want it for daily driver.

Nice!!!

I assume this is "low" because it's at the wheels, as opposed to what it might look like on an engine dyno without any loss of course. Would anyone here know what a stock dyno at the wheels look like? I assume we're seeing ~25 more hp, and 50 more ft-lbs?

Sleek, couple of things I'm interested in. I have a Fiero too (I guess that's obvious since I'm on here), but it's been in storage for a decade. Before I put it away, I had built it into a 3.1 with crank and rods. I think I need to rebuild it with a better balance... but I notice you say it comes out to about 3.2 liters, I assume this is because your piston selection is likely a .030 overbore, correct?

It's hard for me to see the RPMs on the dyno... how is the driveability? Up to what point (RPM) does the engine continue to pull well?

Thanks!
