Still on 'Cable' internet here in the Netherlands. Has been a very good service with Ziggo.

Moving back to the states in the next month and have 1Gbps symmetrical Fiber installed there and hoping it will not disappoint~ The Fiber at my home in the U.S. is literally in the middle of nowhere, some states did dump a lot of money into rolling out broadband to rural areas.

Nice, and decent upload as well!

Last year Windstream discontinued wired service to our area.

They put a tower in a few miles away, and everyone was supposed to connect to it. They forgot to factor in little issues like hills... We can't connect to the tower, so we have no internet.

We could get dial-up, but that's the only option. We currently use the phone's Data and the hit-and-miss connection of my Wi-Fi. Cell connection is pretty low here.

We've been on a waiting list for Starlink for a year and a half, but I'm wondering if that'll ever happen. We were offered the Starlink for RVs, but it was more $$ per month.

OK, now we're cookin' with gas! I called them again today after nothing seemed to be happening, and while I was on the phone, the guy fixed it. They didn't have to send me a new box and I didn't even have to reboot the one I have. He just said, "OK, check your speed now."

Now, I'm going to have to wear a helmet and Nomex suit when I go online.

Cox internet giga-blast plan $114.99/month, Yukon, OK 5:25pm Friday afternoon. Test done with VPN turned off. Drops to ~200Mbps with VPN turned on.
It's funny, Cox claims "speeds up to 1Gbps" download. Never have gotten over 920Mbps and average around 600Mbps, I asked a technician once: "So it can be anywhere between 0 and 1Gbs?" and they said "Yes." Heaven forbid it ever go past the 1Gbps!

Edited to add some other "useless" speed test results...

Is OEC Fiber not there yet? My aunt just got it in SWOKC/Moore and loves it. I think it is super reasonable. Cox has been effing people up for a lot of years. Hasn't been anything around to touch it, not since Multimedia and Roadrunner.

I just checked and OEC Fiber is not yet in Yukon. I see that their 1Gbps plan is $85/month. Definitely worth looking in to. Wouldn't mind getting away from Cox.

Thanks,

Brian

That upload is meh, about what I'm getting through visible (version) on a $25 plan, on lte. That download however is 10x what I'm getting. 5g is available now, for $30 a month, I need an equipment upgrade that I will probably do in a month or so.

I was considering starlink because I plan on moving much more rural but everything I read says it's not the easiest to change addresses and service type. There's an incomplete app to do it that I'm sure will improve with time but it seemed the right move is to wait until I'm at my new place to order it. That may leave me without internet for a while but is that really a bad thing?

We had a bad router / modem what ever. The tech got it all swapped out and set it up, including all our devices with the new password. He checked the speeds on each device and said that my desk top would have more speed with an ether net hard wire instead of the wifi signal.

He custom made one for me and sure enough, my speeds are faster.

Wifi ... 40.83 download, 11.49 upload.

Ether net 171.74 download ... 11.49 upload.
