Wifey is still using w7 on her aptop and I doubt she'll ever upgrade unless she buys a new computer. She uses her phone for everything except document editing and printing.
Me, I use my laptop for everything except talking on the phone.

I guess it actually needs to be... as following those simple instructions resulted in no apparent change. I still just see a tiny box in that post of yours. Maybe some PFF super-nerd will offer some advice on this.

Hey man no judgement, those are fair reasons. Long as you aint got anything super critical/confidential not all that much to be worried about.

Thats likely up to Unicode issues. While it may be possible, its likely not worth the hassle.
If you dont care about having color, another font pack such as Symbola seems to have most emojis i could ever expect to use: https://fontlibrary.org/en/font/symbola
There was a PDF somewhere that showed all the emojis it includes[This message has been edited by A_Lonely_Potato (edited 03-08-2022).]

When I look back, I feel that learning to focus entirely on the task at hand (especially in a dangerous/stressful situation), and to act calmly and appropriately without really needing to "think", was the most valuable lesson I learned from my martial art days. And although it hasn't been required too many times in my life, there have been several occasions when that learned response, that total focus has kicked in, and I'm grateful for it.
And for anyone to state that only men can learn to act in this manner is... a lot of BULL! (See what I did there.)

I think you're right... and I appreciate the example. With what you said, it's certainly a learned response. As with everything, some people are more predisposed to skills than others, but it definitely sounds like something that is taught. My daughter seems to be the kind of person who loses her mind, as does my wife... respectfully. And I definitely want to help my daughter overcome that. Like her father, she is very ADHD. I grew up with childhood ADHD... had to be on Ritalin for like 12 years. Long story, but I literally couldn't sit still, had almost no impulse control and was constantly doing whatever and whenever in class. As an adult, I still cannot sit still. Without a glass of wine, I'm always running around trying to fix something, build something, or do ANYTHING other than sitting still. But just as I was able to get through college by really focusing, I think that's where I need my daughter to adjust as well.
But like Jake says...

This is me too.
In Miami, we constantly have pedestrians getting hit by cars. This is the best example I can use as others I probably don't want to mention here. But I've seen at least three separate times where someone was totally creamed by a car. Immediately... I'm jumping out of the car to save the day. But in reality, there's really nothing at all that I could do. Everyone else is still in their car with their jaws dropped, and I'm over there helping the person. But again, in reality... other than helping the person off the street and onto the curb is probably really not helping at all, especially since I probably shouldn't even move them since they could possibly have back injuries. But every time, I'm out the door before the car even stops... yelling to my wife ("call 911") and I'm over there... doing basically nothing except just consoling the person. I breifly check before dashing out of the car... a good chance I possibly could get hit in the process. But oddly enough, I don't think I'm really even thinking... just kind of springing into action. Sounds good... looks good... but really, probably not doing a lot of good.

No worries, I wasn't suspecting you of that.

Ah yes, "Unicode issues"... I've been down that road here previously when I used to type out my posts in WordPerfect.
It's actually very similar to what I've seen recently with some posts by a few other forum members. The weird characters show up when I find their threads in a Search, but when I open the threads, they're fine. I'm not sure if the problem is at my end or theirs.

I feel like I've seen some issues like that in thread not just in search. Occasionally on quite old threads I'll see random diamonds with question marks in them, but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for it. Software gets fonky with so much compatibility haha

I don't think it's a browser issue, but I've noticed this happening on websites after they've been converted from say... a Windows-based hosting site, to one that is Linux-based. Among other issues, images and links may stop working because Linux is case-sensitive. But mostly, I see that... don't know if it's related... haven't really bothered to look into it.
