Wow, MJ that's awesome.
So many great places that take great time and effort to preserve all that history. You can't just scrap this stuff, scan the material and digitise it into one's and zero's. Doesn't matter how many cool VR demos Like this one, nothing beats the real thing. Even recovery projects, past and present, like Glacier Girl, are phenomenal.

To all the vets on this board (and not), thanks for sharing all this. If i'm ever fortunate in the area of wealth, I intend on seeing many of these places.

The Pensacola NAS has a really good museum as well. Might as well put that one on your list if you haven't been there. I enjoyed theri PBY Catalina...

Really cool... I like how they expanded / laid out the planes based on time period. When you look at the second scrolling image from their website, you can even see the logos from early period, to WW2, to present time.

I'm surprised this is in Ohio, not that I have a problem with that. I guess I always assumed that the HQ for Air Force was in San Antonio since that's where almost all the young recruits go for boot camp. But anyway, I'd never heard of this museum... I will definitely have to check it out.

If you're ever in the Florida 'pan-handle,' we have a similar museum for the NAVY called the Naval Air Museum. It's on NAS Pensacola. It's on base, so you just have to show a drivers license and tell them you're going to the museum. It's top-notch. It's also totally free. Absolutely fantastic museum.

Why would that be an alien concept?

Clearly, because it's a flyover state and no one cares about Ohio (I'm totally joking... seriously!!!)

Hahah, no, I'd just always been told that San Antonio was more or less the "unofficial" headquarters of the Air Force (since the actual HQ is in D.C.). So it made sense to me that something like this would be there since all the recruits end up there... help give some more history to the branch. There's a lot of cool museum planes throughout San Antonio on Lackland, etc... but certainly not like that museum in Ohio.

I didn't know if the AF museum is specifically Air Force run. The Naval Air Museum is NAVY run, so I made the assumption.

EDIT: Since now everyone hates me because of the first comment there (hahah)... I'll throw this in. Is there a display / shrine in the museum to Microsoft Power Point? Asking for a friend...

It was a joke. Wright-Patt is where they keep the aliens.
