By any definition, restricting travel and or travel banns is a major deal. Over something that has possibly killed only one person World wide is freaking out. Remember when President Trump imposed a travel bann on China after MANY MANY deaths was called racist and uncalled for, unnecessary? Ya, Canada is freaking out too[This message has been edited by Rickady88GT (edited 12-18-2021).]

Your definition of "FREAKING out" is obviously a little different than mine. A government taking responsible action is hardly "FREAKING out".
I thought maybe I could find you of an example of a Canadian actually "FREAKING out". So, I present... Marc Crawford, former coach of the Vancouver Canucks NHL hockey team. Yeah, he was little excited here.

Sure, I guess people lining up by the hundred for a booster shot and imposing travel banns in response to one possible death to omicron is a perfectly rational freakout.

Rick, serious question... Are you of the opinion that Omicron is currently the only variant of the COVID virus in circulation?

And Canada “freaking out” has resulted in almost 1/3 the death rate as the US. Freak out and stay alive……….ignore facts and die. We all have a choice.

True, maybe? I believe it is deeper than that. Covid attacks and harms the unhealthy and obese as it's favorite targets. A death toll is not as much of a blind eye to warnings as it is a yardstick of overall health of a Nation. Also as was pointed out by Don in another thread, Americans are the most traveled people on Earth. We move everywhere all of the time. Inside our cities and outside, as well as to and from virtually every landmass on Earth. That puts the US at a higher risk as well. There is more than meets the eye.

No, as a matter of fact covid 19 isn't even the first. Covid has been around for a long time. We should hope that it keeps mutating because each variation is less harmful to us. Soon if it does keep mutating, it will just be a common flue. The lot of variations will most likely exist for a long time. But, some believe that as new versions pop up, the previous diminish. Maybe this is true? I am undecided on this theory. I am not a denier or anti-vax. I believe people should get the vaccine and even a booster (as recommended by medical professionals) if they feel it is best for them. I believe that the vaccinated should have no worries about the unvaccinated and should go about their lives normally without forcing others to take it against their will.[This message has been edited by Rickady88GT (edited 12-19-2021).]

Perhaps I should've made it more clear that I was referring to variants of COVID-19. The booster shot isn't just protection against Omicron, as you appear to be focused on. Up to this point, Delta is the variant to be best avoided and protected against. However, protection against all the COVID-19 variants is obviously the goal of the vaccines.

So, you're saying then that Americans are the ones responsible for spreading this virus all over the planet. Thanks a bunch![This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 12-19-2021).]
