I have to treat cattle for mites every year, so I'm pretty familiar with them. Mites are also what cause sarcoptic mange on dogs and livestock and it's called scabies on humans. There are various kinds of mites including biting mites and burrowing mites and the burrowers are the worst and hardest to control.
Also, I'm always 'interested' when I see the lone star tick. Anything that might cut down on red meat consumption is a bad thing to me.

You're just the kind of guy that mite care about stuff like that......

Just as the indigenous people of the Americas are inaccurately called “Indians”, the Roma were given the name “Gypsy” by the Europeans because they thought they came from Egypt. The truth is that “Indian” would have been a better name for the Roma because they came from the region that is now northern India and Pakistan around 1,000 years ago.

Although there is no written record, it is widely speculated that one primary driving force of the exodus was an influx of Islam into the Indian subcontinent. As is the fate of many migrant populations, they were not welcome wherever they traveled. Such is the human condition.

The song, “Djelem, Djelem” was written in the late 1940s by a man who witnessed, first hand, the persecution, incarceration and murder of the Roma at the hands of the NAZI. It was later adapted as the “Romani Anthem”.

The influence of the Romani is heard in both Klezmer and Flamenco music. The beautiful, talented and well educated lady who created BGKO and sings in the video is Spanish born of Romani extraction. Her name is Sandra Sangio and if she can say “Gypsy” then I am sure we can, too. The moth should be honored.

Also, Django Reinhardt was of Romani extraction and his contribution to Jazz specifically and guitar in general, is incalculable.
