Was Chet a good thing for Nashville? He was blessed with 13 fingers on each hand, most assuredly, but was his direction a benefit? Grandpa love him and there's no denying his playing ability, but I'm pretty uninformed on his version of Country for NashVegas.

He brought business acumen and a broader appeal to the genre and that meant money. When you think of "Faded Love", do you think of Bob Wills or Patsy Cline? People resist change.
Were it not for the Carter girls, we might never have heard of Chet Atkins.

Edit to say that he is probably still the greatest guitar player ever to pluck a string.[This message has been edited by williegoat (edited 12-26-2020).]

Before NashVegas, before Texas outlaw music, before The Nashville Sound (not the ball team), before Bakersfield, before HonkyTonk, just prior to Western Swing, there were bluegrass/mountain music makers and there were western ranch songs from out West. Before Atkins' heyday, it was all about the vocals, with the instrument musicians paying a distant 2nd fiddle. Chet Atkins made it more than just 'ok' for the instrument players to be up front with or even eclipse the vocals.
Nashville cats, play clean as country water Nashville cats, play wild as mountain dew Nashville cats, been playin' since they's babies Nashville cats, get work before they're two
Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar pickers in Nashville And they can pick more notes than the number of ants On a Tennessee ant hill Yeah, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar cases in Nashville And any one that unpacks 'is guitar could play Twice as better than I will
Yeah, I was just thirteen, you might say I was a Musical proverbial knee-high When I heard a couple new-sounding tunes on the tubes And they blasted me sky-high And the record man said every one is a yellow sun Record from Nashville And up north there ain't nobody buys them And I said, "But I Will"
And it was Nashville cats, play clean as country water Nashville cats, play wild as mountain dew Nashville cats, been playin' since they's babies Nashville cats, get work before they're two
Well, there's sixteen thousand eight hundred 'n' twenty one Mothers from Nashville All their friends play music, and they ain't uptight If one of the kids will Because it's custom made for any mothers son To be a guitar picker in Nashville And I sure am glad I got a chance to say a word about The music and the mothers from Nashville
Nashville cats, play clean as country water Nashville cats, play wild as mountain dew Nashville cats, been playin' since they's babies Nashville cats, get work before they're two Kick it[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 12-26-2020).]

FBI is seeking the mother of 'person of interest' Anthony Quinn Warner, which is usually an indication they are seeking to identify parts and pieces of someone thru DNA analysis.
"where's Tony Warner?"
Everywhere Sir!
"What?"
Blowed up Sir![This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 12-26-2020).]

Apparently, they have a "person of interest" who had a similar RV. They showed pictures of his house on the Nashville news pages. Guess what was in the back yard? The damned RV. (And here we thought it was "blowed up".)
The press needs to be careful. Two words... "Richard Jewell".

Well, federal agents are remarkably unimaginative unless they're instigating crimes where one isn't being committed. Almost all the foiled terror plots turn out to be an FBI "informant" who was instigating the entire thing and some satellite players sorta aren't, but sorta go along with it. I read the reports to be that those were rolled back google street view images meaning the RV is there in earlier views but not anymore. But I just grazed quickly over the reports.
Here the image shown is 2019 with the RV in the backyard. https://www.tmz.com/2020/12...ly-dead-no-man-hunt/[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 12-27-2020).]

I believe if you look a bit farther, you will find that the picture of the house with the RV in the yard is an older picture and the RV was gone when the officers arrived and the neighboirs said it had been gone since at least very early Fri morning.
| quote | Federal agents could be seen looking around the property, searching the home and the backyard. A Google Maps image had shown a similar recreational vehicle parked in the backyard when the photo was captured in May 2019; an AP reporter at the scene did not see the vehicle at the property in the late afternoon Saturday.

The suspect (Warner) recently signed over ownership of that house to someone in Calif. A 29 year old women.
"The man identified as a person of interest in the Nashville Christmas Day bombing gave his house away for nothing a month before the blast, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.
Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, signed the property away via a quitclaim deed to Lisa Swing, a 29-year-old woman living in Los Angeles, for $0.00, according to county records.
Swing's signature does not appear on the November 25th transfer and she told investigators and reporters she knew absolutely nothing about it" And now...............Let the conspiracy theories begin!!!

I loved that song when I was a kid. (I'm pretty sure he actually says "pick it" at the end, though)

FBI says the remains at scene have been identified as the Antioch Tn suspect Anthony Warner, making it a 'suicide by bombing'. This song was reportedly emanating from the RV prior to the explosion.
In other 'strange Christmas news'.
There is a thin easter egg type connection between these 2 events. can you find it?
3 dead. 3 wounded. Duke Webb, US Army SF soldier in custody. Evidently, no motive that has been publicly released. 4 of the victims were elderly, 3 of those are deceased, with one other older person in hospital and 2 teenagers wounded. One boy one girl. "ROCKFORD, Ill. – An Army sergeant based in Florida was charged with murder after a shooting rampage at a bowling alley complex that left three people dead and three wounded, authorities said Sunday.
Duke Webb, 37, was held in the Winnebago County Jail without bond on three counts each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in Saturday's attack. His first court appearance was set for Monday.
"We believe this was a completely random act," Police Chief Dan O'Shea said Sunday. "There is no prior meeting or any kind of relationship between the suspect and any of the victims in this case."
Webb, a resident of Florida, was taken into custody within minutes of officers arriving on the scene. He attempted to conceal his identity and hide two weapons that were recovered from the scene, O'Shea said. No officers fired their weapons while taking Webb into custody, O'Shea said.
The Army said Webb is a Special Forces assistant operations and intelligence sergeant based at Camp Bull Simons, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He joined the Army in 2008 and was on leave Saturday.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn about this tragic event,” said Col. John W. Sannes, commander of 7th Special Forces Group. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and wounded.”

I stand corrected. They are talking about that on the news, now. Said the RV disappeared from the driveway, early Friday.
