We don't have bears or bear lovers around here. Used to have, but they were hunted to extinction.
The state wildlife dept made an attempt to re-introduce black bears to South East Texas in the late 50s using bears from Manitoba and Wisconsin or Minnesota. Most ended up over in SW Louisiana or in redneck Texans' freezers. North East Texas there are still a few. Far West and SW Texas have lots more. They are protected thru out the state. killing one will get you a $10,000 State fine, loss of hunting privilege for life and restitution costs. (you have to pay whatever it costs to import another bear)
