That's the breaks of free enterprise I suppose. Certainly an outpouring of emotion there......... "They have not given us money" [This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 12-06-2020).]

That/ this isn't "free enterprise"
THIS is cronysism/socialism/fascism/corprotism in action.
Free enterprise would be the same rules apply to ALL business, not crush the little guys and favor the globalist mega-corps.[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 12-07-2020).]

Emotion? That's what death and suffering usually begets. Go read some of the stupid conspiracy theory claims made even in this thread as well as the election & vaccine threads and then come talk about 'emotion'. |

I did... MJ, my links thus far prove the political narrative incorrect. YES, we are in a pandemic. YES the deaths have been higher.
What I've been stating all along is that the NUMBER of deaths have been grossly exaggerated... and the actual numbers reflect this. This year, the numbers that would otherwise be associated with deaths that occur throughout a normal year in other unrelated categories have gone down at nearly the exact same rate as the deaths from COVID, which suggests that they are claiming COVID deaths as pretty much any situation in which someone ends up in a hospital and then dies.
So, we actually KNOW that this is happening because the CDC has admitted it, and hospitals have admitted it, and we literally have Directors at the state level LITERALLY saying that they're doing this.
I respect you MJ, but you do not think critically. I think you give the image of being a good guy on here, and I think you're mostly even-keeled... but when you begin to get emotional on a topic, you immediately lose all perspective and resort to attacks (yes... you do), and you shut down.
In a week or so when my friend has compiled this information that I'm discussing (which was eluded to in the document I posted), I'll post it with a nod to you, and we can discuss. Until then, I encourage you to keep an open mind.
It should be obvious to you that presently the media and social media leaders are aggressively biased. This isn't really up for discussion... I think it's pretty obvious. COVID is something that has become incredibly political, and in large part it was what led to Trump not winning election... though I think pretty much any reasonable person would agree that had Hillary or anyone else been President, there wasn't much they would have done differently. The goal is to sensationalize COVID from every angle they (media, left, etc.) can in order to use it politically. There's a financial aspect to this as well. We NEED to be able to look at these things critically and not cast blanket aspersions as you do where you assume everything is 0 or 1.
Again... we all know we're in a pandemic. We all know COVID-19 is worse than other corona and influenza viruses. We all know people are dying at a higher rate... we can clearly see the hospitals in some areas getting overwhelmed. But... as I said... the numbers are being exaggerated.
Also... it's worth mentioning... many of these hospitals are overwhelmed ANYWAY. I sat in a waiting room for 8 hours in Baltimore because they didn't have a free bed. And this was in the middle of fall back in 2011 because I had a 104+ degree fever from Lyme disease. Many of these hospitals that are being overwhelmed are /ALWAYS/ overwhelmed because of poor financial management, lack of healthcare to illegals, and a lack of proper facilities in high population areas.[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 12-07-2020).]

I don't give a crap about the 'political narrative'. That part of it was lost many months ago when the president stood before the American people and claimed Covid was all under control, then, as holder of the Oval office, publicly endorsed more than one quack treatment, and repeatedly made fun of people that were wearing masks in his presence, in yet more attempts to downplay the seriousness of the virus, (as well as endorsing the quack strip mall medical practioner in Houston that believes interstellar aliens are here among us) and it all went downhill from there. Those political inputs from 'the head guy in charge and behind the desk in the Oval Office' ' were also incorrect. Of course, we don't want to talk about that political narrative here, as we're all good toe -the-line conservarives.
The fact that my critical thinking came to different conclusions than yours doesn't mean I don't use critical thinking, tho claiming such is an old ploy that simplydoesn't work on anyone that does use critical thinking.
I'll be waiting for your "bombshell proof" to surface here and in the media and courts accross the land.
I see 'whistleblower' Rebekah Jones has been arrested for allegedly using the Fla alert system improperly to send a message to other workers.
The message: The warrant stemmed from an investigation into an alleged hack of the Department of Health’s messaging alert system used for emergencies.
On Nov. 10, someone used the alert system to send a message stating: “It’s time to speak up before another 17,000 people are dead. You know this is wrong. You don’t have to be a part of this. Be a hero. Speak out before it’s too late,” the newspaper reported.......... In July, she published an op-ed in the Miami Herald urging other state employees to come forward. “You are not alone. You have power in numbers and in truth,” Jones wrote. “You are an army inside the Department of Health. And you have the greatest asset and weapon that any person could have: information.”
The police raid comes a day before DeSantis is set to participate in a White House panel on vaccine distribution with three other governors. DeSantis has consistently received some of the lowest approval ratings in the nation for his handling of the pandemic. A widely shared investigation published by the South Florida Sun Sentinel last week described how he “misled the public on the COVID-19 pandemic” by using “secrecy and spin.”

I would cut him some slack on this point. The forum member from Cleveland (TX) or "maryjane."
He's a bit cranky these days--maybe even threshold strung out--because (through no fault of his own) he's become tired of winning.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 12-08-2020).]

I know.
I could say more about your very brief message of "Yup--more emotional outbursts"--a reference that if not directed exclusively towards maryjane at least includes maryjane--but this is an even more inopportune time than any other time that's close ahead (which will also be an inopportune time.)
I might say more about it, but not right now.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 12-08-2020).]

I think any time we allow emotion to drive our thinking, the outcome (and reasoning) is never good. There are many instances where I myself have (hindsight) realized that the decisions I made were wrong because of a particular mental state. I mean, we're talking about statistics here, and when someone is emotionally driven to produce an outcome, numbers can be misrepresented. Furthermore, those who are engaged emotionally in a topic are unwilling to think critically about something as well.
We should always be willing to challenge consensus... there are many times in history that we have gone against the narrative and it proved correct in the end.
