Blues lyrics are often misunderstood and inaccurately transcribed.

Listen to Lightnin' Hopkins' "Bring Me My Shotgun". In the last verse he says "I don't take a dare from nobody", but all over the internet the lyrics are misunderstood as "I don't take a day off for nobody".

There are many misunderstandings of Doctor John's "I Walk On Gilded Splinters".

Sometimes, it just take some research and and understanding of the culture.

Well, that explains why you don't understand the blues. That band is from so far north they don't even know what cornbread is.

I was born in the south with family from Alabama and Mississippi. I used to be able to tell which southern state someone was from, just by hearing a few words.
