maryjane's Flying Car Approved By The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (Page 3/5)

One of the most interesting "flying cars" that I have seen personally was a dune buggy type vehicle that had a deployable/storable ram air type fabric wing. It was initially designed to allow missionaries to go places where there were limited roads. If you run out of roads, just deploy the fabric wing and take off. The maximum air speed is a a bit low at 30 mph but you cannot bump into the vehicle in the parking lot and cause much damage to the mostly open roll cage design. It was priced at about $100,000 when I saw it last year at a LSA show in Florida.

Steve,

If you just pay cash for the flying car, there is no lien that requires insurance. That should minimize cost for you.

i think it's exceptionally homely, but it is a "car", and it does fly.

Did you forget who I am? I can't afford the dam thing, never could, it cost more than all of the homes I have bought in my entire lifetime.

I just hope that someone will buy one so that I can fly it for a while. I would have some issues with buying one myself but certainly want to fly something like that at least once. Is there a volunteer in the house? I could donate a large ram air canopy if someone else has the rest of the vehicle.

Nelson,
After considering every vehicle I own, I sadly must inform you that none that I currently have will qualify for this use. Although they will all motor down the road, not one of them is capable of continuing forward momentum past the kinetic energy stored in them once they left the ground. Sorry about that. Anyone got a set of rocket pods laying around they don't need?

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun?

My Uncle Frank was a staunch Conservative and voted straight Republican until the day he died in Chicago. Since then he has voted Democrat. Shrug

Any small, think S10 size pickup would lend itself to something like this, room in the bed for an aircraft type engine, and for those cowards among us even a parachute for when something goes wrong. Now the wings folding would have to be fabricated out of aircraft grade aluminum so the they could fold of course. one nice thing about anything we would make is that it would be considered an experimental aircraft I believe, hey ain't you the one on here who was a helicopter and test pilot? you can help with that part. you got more balls than I do, but hey if your willing to try it the first time I'll go with you if there is a second time as co nut.
